I am continually surprised by the Oregon pinots from 2011, and the Winderlea Juliard is no exception. For a vintage that was written off due to the cold, damp weather, I enjoy them and they seem to be aging well. Medium garnet in color. Bursting with cherry and cranberry with a nice, tart acidity. Consistent profile across a finish of medium duration.

Not showing much on the nose. Heavy cranberry and some tea on the palate, with other red berry notes lurking. Quite thin and very acid forward, to a fault I would say. I actually like this style more than most of the Winderleas I've had, which have come across dark and brooding (mostly 2012s). This is much lighter and more acid driven. A solid OR pinot.

Smells of strawberry jam but tastes of dark morello cherries. Light but structured with nice tannins. Sweet-tart and very delicious. Didn't pair with food but it seems like it would go with a variety of typical pinot pairings. Triple cream or gorgonzola and lamb chops with rosemary stand out. I think it still has a few years of rest in it but is outstanding now.

Wonderful nose of cranberry and wet stone. On the palate it was pretty thin and tart and rather one dimensional. This was a challenging year so I will hold off drinking more to see if there is an evolution in the wine.
