Still kicking at 22 years. Decanted and poured. Nicely browned. Nose of violets, herbs, garrigue, menthol. On the palate, layers of herbs, stewed fruit, black cherry, blackberry, currants, raisins smoke and spice. Developed more raspberry and savory notes in the glass.

Appearance: medium garnet, a little hazy (unfiltered) Nose: medium intensity; aromas of meaty, cherry jam, toast, cedar, a little raisin, a little dry herbs. It's past its best. Palate: dry, medium plus acidity, medium plus tannins, high alcohol, medium plus body, medium flavour intensity. The finish is medium. Overall, it's a good wint but it's too old. The fresh fruit characters have faded away and very subtle on the nose. However, the flavours are not very well defined on the palate. The finish is sort of lingering but again not well defined. The acidity can balance with relatively high alcohol (which is slightly burning). There's a tiny bit of leakage with cork when open, which may contribute to the fading. Good with food.

Orange-crimson in colour, nose of dried fruits, strawberries and earth floor. On the palate tea-like notes with good fruit structure, soft but present tannins. Finish is nice and long. My first 10-year old wine, lovely! I'm thinking this is the best drinking time; the fruit element seems to be on its way down.

Alcohol :: 14.5% This has better focus on the nose with sweet fig paste, earth, spices and mineral. Still retain certain level of freshness, structure, slight tannic with just enough fruits concentration for the balance of the wine. Better finish too with dusty, smoky aftertaste that is a little bit dried and hot. Buy - No.

Pleasant strawberry and garrigue herb flavors. Medium-bodied with slightly tangy red fruit. Silky textured. Pretty good. Bit pricey from this list at $80. Served with dinner at Tramontana in Dallas.

TB: We had one of these bottles in the past and this bottle didn't show nearly as well. Opened and decanted an hour prior to dinner. Maroon in color and cloudy. Nose showed a strange green characteristic at first. After some time it became more of a peppery nose, but not showing much fruit. Palate was strange, however it paired very well with the loin of lamb. It was however off by itself. I think this bottle was flawed, but we weren't able to determine how--it wasn't cooked, nor was it corked. I'll withhold a rating.

opening with pure mixed fruits, after some time just the right amount of white pepper appears, but very differently then the cali versions of this grape - without heat and with the perfect acid balance. Very good QPR!

This seemed to be slightly closed down... tried to decant, but this still was not showing much. Try again in about 3-4 years.
