Dark red fruit, oak and chewy tannins. Still brooding and intense. Let this bad boy breath, or better yet hold until this softens up a bit, this has the stuffing to last.

I like this more than at release. Good fruit, good balance, little oak; just what a Crianza should be. A good match for Moroccan chicken with preserved lemon.

Deep purple, inky. Short legs, little sediment. Wood, cedar, spice on the nose. Oak and vanilla. Full-bodied, well-rounded. Long finish. Oak and tannins have been well integrated. On balance, the nose promises more than what the wine can actually deliver - nevertheless an uncomplicated, quite enjoyable traditional Rioja. I usually stay away from Spanish (and New World) wines, but couldn't find much fault with this Rioja. More interesting than most Bordeaux Sup, with less tannins (comparing with what would be a similar price point). Drinks well now and should do so through 2018/19. It doesn't have the tannins and acidity to improve much beyond that. 87-88
A bit simple and lacking the complexity I was hoping for from this more traditional producer... can't exactly put my finger on what didn't for it for me with this one.. decent, but not worth seeking out.

Deep garnet-black color. Glass-coating. Secondary/primary aromas of blackberry, forest-brush, graphite, dried flowers, mineral and dill- medium intensity. Deep and rich on the palate, showing dark berry fruit & cassis, violets, cardamom and cedar. Big dense middle, with creamy broad tannin. Full dense finish. Nice balance. Very nice.

Spanish Mixed Bag, Summer of 2016; 7/2/2016-7/15/2016: Very tasty wine for the price point (€7,95). Retro style Rioja with ripe cherry and berry fruit, and lashings of creamy vanilla, offering uncomplicated fun.

Dark cherry, savoury currant, cedar/sandalwood, tar and fresh dug earth nose. Big flavours, well-balanced; good replays to finish.
4/5
