compared to my last one now 7 years ago this has gained body and seems more complete but strangely similar in that I sense blueberry fruit upfront and red fruit on the back end more like raspberry . Later 2 hours of air it started to mimic some cooler west coast Pinots with almost a cola note
I feel this is worth drinking now but certainly has 10 good years to go

opened up in the bottle after an hour, fresh scents of red berries, wet stone and flowers, tender, deep fruit concentration, with beautiful lift and elegance, the palate shows blueberry, mineral and black tea nuances within the core of generous pinot fruit, vey long, very balanced, so gorgeous now, there are a couple of decades left in the bottle but drinking well early

Terroir-istes International - France, Burgundy, Vougeot (Overgaauw Wine Estate): (Tasted Blind): A mid-garnet colour with mahogany to almost deep yellow hue! Evolved bouquet with ripe, dried orange, sweet liquorice, dust, some red berries and meat stock There's an attraction to it, with a mineral note and oddly spearmint, adding intrigue to the nose. The palate is rich with blood orange with integrated lively fresh acid. The mid-palate has flesh and succulence with red fruit compote and sour rhubarb. Somewhat sweet but chalky tannins, a warm alcohol edge and a long finish. The wine got better in the glass.

a very fresh, high-toned version of Clos Vougeot. Almost citrus quality to the otherwise bright raspberry/strawberry fruit in the mouth. Hints of smoke, game, mineral and white pepper. Very refined and dynamic today. Friendly tannins almost make this drinkable, though this should age on it's balance. A gentle touch.

Fresh, garnet hue on lighter side nose is mercurial, never sure what it will be but there was a spicy woodsy earthy note that came snd went. Palate is nice fruit that is s bit blueberry on attack and strawberry on the end. the finish is medium and palate cleansing. I feel it is quite shy and has z big upside to aging - 2+ years at least

There was more finesse in this wine than a typical Vougeot. Opened with a perfumed nose accompanied by light smoke, red berries & sweet earth. Vibrant acidity with a touch of fizziness, showing more Vougeot character with air, but was never rustic. Juicy texture and a medium finish. To my surprise it began to decline after 2 hours.

Initially quite of bit of stems and fresh cut grass on the nose which not off putting, but rather very interesting. This merged with lovely red cherry fruit and subtle spice all framed with a charming wood note. Out of the gate this was very perfumed and seemed almost effervescent but really integrated nicely over a couple hours. Medium+ sweet finish with just a touch of grip. I am really impressed with the Hudelot range in 2011.

La Paulée de San Francisco - Grand Tasting (The Fairmont - San Francisco CA): Tasting, brief note. Bright red berry aromas with very Vosne-styled, slightly woodsy spice. There is a charming hint of new oak on nose that doesn't seem as obvious on palate. Bright black and red berry flavors with some backward structure. Very impressive 2011.

2011 | Les Cherbaudes | Les Gaudichots | Clos Vougeot |: After a ghetto decanting we got all that pure fruit in the wine, lovely sappy with fine focus, balance and integrated tannins on the complex and very pure finish. A very refined and elegant Clos Vougeot.

Day Four in Burgundy: Anne Gros, Hudelot-Noellat, Dujac and Drouhin (Cote d'Or): Tasting at domaine. Starts with slightly backward black fruit aromas and hints of background spice. Flavors of large scaled black and red fruit with lots of power and firm, tannic structure from start-to-finish. Great density and weight. Very good 92-93 point potential here, but don't hurry and open one soon.

Energy, elegance and vibrancy is the hallmark of this vintage and this Clos Vougeot is no exception. Ripe red fruit harnessed to smooth tannins and impressive structure, combined with a long finish make this a special wine. Like the 09 and 10, which just edge out the 11, it is impressively elegant for a Clos Vougeot. Estimated maturity: 2020+

Opened 6 hours upon serving into Zalto Burgundy glass (“No” day): Pale purplish ruby.
Darker red and black berry fruits, prunes too. A bit “sweet” and jammy. Some medicinal herbs.
Fine tannins, nice texture but good acidity. Quite tannic and good weight. Grippy.
92-93 points to me.

Vines are near the top end of the plot near the chateau.
Very silky on the palate. Sophisticated.
Lots of acidity.
Should be lovely.

Bird's Eye View of 2011 Burgundy-The 2014 La Paulee Grand Tasting (Fairmont Hotel, San Francisco): Red and blue fruit. Sappy and round, again with wood showing. As in 2 of the other wines from Hudelot, hedonistic but not particularly eloquent about place. Shockingly open for this Grand Cru.
