Intense and still quite youthful lime-green color. The nose feels surprisingly green and vegetal with aromas of pickle juice, some broccolini, a little bit of tart green apple, light sweeter notes of ripe peach, a developed hint of creamy richness and a touch of steely minerality. The wine is focused, quite powerful and moderately full-bodied on the palate with slightly green-toned, vegetal flavors of pickle juice and sappy herbal character, some zesty lemony tones, a little bit of cabbage, light sweeter nuances of ripe white fruits, a hint of tangy salinity and a touch of evolved creaminess. The wine is moderately high in acidity. The finish is ripe and juicy but also subtly vegetal with flavors of tart Granny Smith apple, some sappy herbal tones, a little bit of lemony citrus fruit, light broccolini tones, a hint of pickle juice and a touch of creaminess.

A weird and oddly vegetal Chablis Grand Cru. You can taste there is a powerful, focused and ripe yet quite tightly-knit wine underneath, but unfortunately the greener nuances grab your attention, and not in a good way. The taste was much better than the noticeably more green nose, but still there was that slightly green streak of pickle juice running through the wine, from the nose to the aftertaste. A disappointing experience, since the wine showed lots of promise (and no overt vegetal tones) when I tasted it the last time in 2014.

  • Great bottle. White peach. Structured, terroir-driven Chablis, flirting more with debauchery than mere charm. Deep, persistent, almost succulent. Window 2020 to 2030 -- in ideal storage.

  • Kept under condition 1 since about 2013 (see my profile). Very fine, refined nose, at first dominated by minerals. The first impression about the taste was that this wine was already over its top, but it opened during its time in the glass, getting better and better. Very refined but not prominent fruit (grapefruit and mandarin/orange) with strong mineral, stony notes and a kind of nutty note. Not easy to describe. While the wine showed another nuance each time, there is a lot to taste and to enjoy. Mature now, I think. Drunk with sea-bass, but better on its own. Excellent. (91-)92.

  • Color: really light (yellow-)green. Luxurious, mineral nose with some fruit (lemon and apple?). In the taste nice minerality and acidity, perfectly integrated oak. Well belanced. Could have had some more fruit, but an excellent wine. In the midst of its drinking window, I guess. 91-92.

  • Monthly Tasting Group HWS #141; Chablis and oysters (By RdL): Beautiful bouquet with minerals, subtle vanilla and some butter. Same on the palate, very beautiful and fresh acidity. Full mouth feel, intense, powerful and subtle at the same time.

  • A bunch of wines at dinner with Friends (Taste): I think the potential is here but this is very tight. I meant to go back later and check but I got distracted. Right now it drinks like a good Chardonnay that could be from anywhere. Light gold in color. The nose has lemon and an interesting green note. On the palate, this his full bodied with a lot of power but the fruit seems tight and shut down. Nice acidity. There is a lot of room for improvement here, but I would hold for another ten years.

  • Meget behagelig vin, er ikke godt kjent med Les Clos, men skulle ønske meg mer mineralitet og sjø, men for all del, nydelig sak.

  • Pale, but also very intense lime green color. Somewhat subdued, but still quite fruity nose with subtle aromas of ripe red apples, some sweet citrus fruits and a hint of stony minerality. Contrasting the underwhelming nose, the wine is remarkably powerful, rich and racy on the palate - yet very tightly-knit, true to the Chablis style. There are very intense flavors of tart green apples, ripe and sweet whitish yellow apples, some robust mineral spice ranging from steely cut to wet stones, a little bit on concentrated citrus fruits and a hint of sweeter white fruit. The high acidity and pronounced mineral tones give the wine a very crisp edge. The finish is crisp and taut with very pronounced stony minerality and more subtle lively, fresh flavors of tart green apples, lemony citrus fruits and herbal greenness.

A very tightly-knit, taut and mineral Grand Cru Chablis that is ridiculously youthful and closed at this point. The wine shows a lot of very obvious cellaring potential, but now it offers very little enjoyability. If you want to drink Chablis young, this is definitely not your wine - this is a wine that needs a minimum of 5 more years in a cellar - preferably even more. This'll be a stunner once the texture starts to resolve and the fruit starts to pick up some tertiary complexity - now the wine is just too one-dimensional, straightforward and dominated by taut, stony minerality. Nevertheless, this is a great wine already - just waiting to get better.

  • Grands Jours de Bourgogne 2014 Day 1: Chablis 3-17-13: Nose is B vitamin a bit, closed otherwise; palate is asphalt and mineral. 9/10
