Cork crumbled, so decanted it. Initial impression is of a solid California Cab (does not seem to have suffered from the cork.). Feels like it has a lot of life left.
Over the first hour, this has become reedy and thin. Lean and mean -- and not in a funny, John Candy way. Still, looks like we'll finish it.

Been waiting to open this one for some time (purchased it over 7 years ago) and it rewarded the wait, excellent Cali Cab with at least a few years in front of it, not quite aligned with the CT drinking window - Dark, full bodied with a nose of blackfruit, plum, cherry, mocha, cedar, cigar box and vanilla, excellent structure and weight, very well integrated, silky smooth on the palate with terrific length, outstanding (92 Points).

This needed a lot of time to open up. Nose was awful at first and we thought the wine may have been skunked. Let it sit for a couple of hours, and nose was ok, but something was just off. Next day - a different wine. Delightful. Some cherries and dark fruit with pepper on the finish. Go with an 89, but that is because day 1 it was a 75. Day 2 90+.

Slight decant. Aromatics of dark red plum and currant with quite a bit of damp earth and wet tobacco leaf. Medium plus bodied with decent fruit on the palate, but not as much as expected. A moderate finish with some tannin remaining. I plan on drinking my remaining bottles over the next couple years.

I'm with Bobo N and cookie7 in enjoying this fresh (amazed that it was a '99), fruit driven cab. Was great right out of the bottle and did tons to dull the Jets pathetic performance again! Strong nose and good body. Very dark color with light tannins and moderate acidity.

Drank this before reading others' reviews and I'm surprised that not everyone loves this wine. I also saw that WS gave this 92 points, which seems right to me. Perhaps I'm a sucker for the oak, cedar and powerful fruit of a tannic Stag's Leap Dist. Cab, but this wine had enough complexity, a powerful nose of black currant, and a solid finish that followed layers of fruit and oak, w/ tannins evident but not overpowering. I have 2 left and look forward to drinking this full-bodied, solid Napa cab again within the year.

Hot and tannic. Doesn't hold a candle to the '97 and comes across as just another big, dumb Cab. I wonder if a couple more years in the bottle would help?

Not nearly as bad as Parker claims. What saves this the balance. Decent fruit, still very tannic. Moderate complexity but a short finish. This is just a poor QPR, it's worth about $20-25.

Brett and cassis nose. Pure cassis fruit. All the way cassis. The tannins are nicely integrated and this wine is drinking very well right now.

Tastes very much in its prime. Youthful fruit and well integrated tannins. Chocolate and cedar. Really enjoyed it. Years of time left.

Really enjoed this. Chocolate and some baking spice in this which I find in SLD cabs. Deep and balanced given its intensity. Many years left.
