This was a totally different experience from the bottle a year ago. Smooth, elegant, fruity and befitting the label syrah. There was some darker fruits and tar.

Meaty aromas with black cherry/currant fruit and black licorice. Plum and prune on the pallet with a note of dark chocolate. A touch of black pepper spice on the long and leathery finish. Powerful yet elegant.

Smoky black fruit on nose. Lush earthy fruit on palate, very southern Rhone in style, although all Syrah. Seems to be one of the lesser Clarendon Hills bottlings, but still impressive, and still lots of life left at 10 years.

Pop and pour, drank over 2 hours. This is extremely fruity and rich. There is a bit of earth. Overall, satisfying and not terribly complex. This seems to be one of the weaker Clarendon Hills cuvee's, and frankly I'd label it shiraz.

Intriguing nose of smoked oysters in oil, black olives, and stewed, ripe brambleberry. Pepper, baking spice, graphite and rich, creamy fruit present on the long and full finish.

This is a rich and beautifully balanced Syrah. Dark fruit and a bit of bramble appear in the mid palate finishing with a long spice laden finish. Excellent wine!

N: JAMMY black (bramble?) berry notes with a laser-like focus
P: Med, poss MF, body; RIPE, almost swtish frt met by balancing acidity which slowly, fairly seamlessly, morphs into a LONG, pleasant, almost swtish finish with a very slight tanginess. A ripe style which might benefit from cellaring into Spring '18, then drink nicely into its 10th yr. A Zin "replacement" with spicy BBQ? 94 pts James Halliday & 89 WA. [This vendor had this @ $19.95 when tasted in Aug 2017. As of this posting (April 2018) they're the ONLY ones showing it on wine-searcher, but @ $29.95, so your guess is as good as mine...]

Cool, calm & collected; sweetness, fatness, yes, but this has hints of northern Rhône, freshness and coolness, notes of black olives, bacon, black, creamy fruit. Will live 10 years+, but it is a lovely drink right now.

All 3 bottles from WTSO were different. This last one seemed to have started the downward slope, while still having ample fruit, earth and spice.

Bad case of xxxxxxx. Have gotten this in two bottles of this wine now.
Edit: Not Brett but reductive aromas: cooked olives and stagnant water.
