Hour decant, and it needed it. Seems like it is fully resolved. Typical acidity for the vintage, tannins seamless. Dark tart cherry flavor with muted Vosne aromatics. In a very good, intellectual spot.

Opened as a second bottle to the '95 Beringer merlot Bancroft with Ranch. A masculine wine with initial nose of cedar and toasted nut. After 30 minutes in the decanter the nose developed into a dark chocolate and mocha and a layer of toasted nut and wood in the background. On the palate, its full of ripe fruits of plum, cherry and dark berries with a medium acidity and a long finish and a well integrated tannins. Lovely and satisfying. A wine that is true to the terroir while adds a character of the producer at heart.

this was younger, more structure, darker etc than my previous bottles, the cork was tight, solid and little staining so maybe this hadn't had as much aging as the prior bottles, my rating therefore suffered vs the previous bottles though i will say my guest went goo goo over it and certainly would have scored it higher... these bottles (if well stored) still have tons of life left (10 years?)

Not a shy wine and a style that certainly shows better with some bottle age. Even at this age, showing intense black cherry and ripe black plum. Sweet spice on both the nose and palate. Wood integrated at this point. While lacking finesse, this has a certain surface appeal and the fruit and spice are well balanced.

Second Sunday Group: 2012 Bordeaux (Mike's): Aromas of iron and red fruit; rustic. Violets, iron and red berry fruit on the palate with a lengthy finish. Has a mineral note on the back end. Balanced; excellent.

NR as this was an add on after an 8 bottles tasting, remember it being really good juice (as have been my prior bottles), certainly plenty of fruit but also great acid (a la '96) and some secondary… still going strong

Opened and poured slowly into the decanter. Heavy sediment load remaining in the bottle. Much darker than I was expecting but with a still beautiful purple hue.
Couldn't resist immediately pouring a taste... beautiful big earthy nose hinting of mushrooms comes out of the glass followed by an explosion of black fruit muting to a hint of strawberries. Initial taste shows rich and viscous texture across the palate that is at the same time silky smooth and velvety comforting. A sensuous core of cherries, plums, & blueberries. Beautiful tannins presenting themselves across the mid palate are well integrated and balanced by the wonderful acidity. The finish goes on for over 45 seconds!
Thankfully I have another bottle. I'll save it for a special occasion 5 or so years from now.

Disapointing. Probably too old. Good nose. Attack is great but too much acidity

A bit angular. Not rich. ok, but fairly tart. Where is the magic? Another mediocre red Burgundy.
