Last btl of this. Some variation as this one tastes fresher and rounder than the one a few months ago. Classically made and well-proportioned sangio. I have always liked del Cerro's wines.

I have always enjoyed cel Cerro's VNdMs and this is no exception. Restrained black cherry, tobacco, green peppercorns, and wet asphalt. It is true that this is fading and the midsection is a bit hollow and dried out. EtOH is tasting a bit hot. Drink up.

Bit over the top and declining. No tannins or acidity to speak of and a bit thin in the middle and end. Light red fruits, black pepper and a bit of oak. Still worked well with a pizza but I wouldn't pair it with a heavier dish.

Our first bottle of this vintage was outstanding (five to go). Typical vino nobile with a nice body and finish. Drank over three days and developed definitely. This vine is usually complicated - or let's say ... not a crowd pleaser. Maybe that's why the ratings are so different ... not "everybody's darling" and that is a GOOD SIGN ! The bottles are also available through very different channels - i assume the quality may differ ...

Medium red color. Aromas of black cherries, tar, smoke and wood spices. Medium-bodied fruit in the mouth with very good depth and length. I found this wine to be very suave and complex on the palate for a $15 a bottle wine. Excellent value.

Tried over two days. First night the wine was hard, rustic and ungiving, and like another reviewer it had no typicity. Second night was no improvement. Previous vintages of this wine were much more approachable. Maybe time will help.

Pop and pour and served with food (fettucine in a tomato-basil sauce) and then tasted on its own. followed for about 4 hours. Re-corked and tasted the following day. Nose shows a bit of oak and some dried cherries. Color is a good deep purple. Wine is a bit rustic, showing mushroom, some tart and sour cherries and herbal notes. Not particularly inviting, the acidity is a bit out of proportion to the fruit. The following day it is tart and the tannins overly dry.
NB: I understand that this wine received Tre Bicchieri (Gambero Rosso), a 92 from Antonio Galloni (Vinous) and a 91 from James Suckling. I would not give the wine I had the same or equivalent rating. Was it a different batch, or poor storage? I don't know.

Just how much cab is in this wine? By no means odious, it is , however, so innocuous that it should be sold with a label that simply reads "Generic Dry Red Wine."

Antonio Galloni rated this 92 points. It's a complete joke of a rating!
The wine is thin, measly and tart. I bought 3 bottles, which I plan on gifting to my enemies. I paid $16, and frankly, lighter fuel has moved me more than this.

The label proudly refers to the "Tre Bicchieri" bestowed on this wine by the Gambero Rosso. Attractive, sombre colour, some bricking at the edges; attractive nose, warm, good depth, lovely typicity, black and crushed red fruit, tar and minerals, well-integrated oak, hint of eucalyptus; the palate has medium weight, but after an acceptable attack, the wine turns dry and austere, with unripe tannins; tails off. Extremely disjointed, but does not seem to be faulty. A riddle. Goes well with Rick Stein's spaghetti with meatballs. This cannot be what was presented to the Gambero Rosso. Or can it?

Gambero Rosso Roadshow (Sydney, Australia): Tasted this without knowing anything about it, surprised it was not well liked by many here. Smoky, tobacco, some briar and earth. Nice texture on the palate, there is fine balance between the fruit and grippy tannins. Well rounded wine that I thought was good.

Rosewater, cedar, licorice, gritty earth, herbs, and blackberry with strong minerality and firm tannins on the finish. Really intense with bitter flavors, like raw oregano. The flavor profile isn't what a lot of people are looking for, but it floats my boat. This is a high-class wine for just $18.

Deep purple-red color. Medium body. Lush, silky, and delicious from the get-go. Notes of black cherry, plum, anise, and black pepper. Overall well-made, with nice structure and depth. Another excellent value for the price.

Splash of Cabernet in this Sangiovese. Light intensity nose of dried red fruit, maybe a rose petal. Palette very soft brightness of raspberry, dried cranberry, sweet bark, herbal notes, medium tannins that are smooth. Something on the finish kicks in 5 seconds later that is interesting and tasty. Nice Italian style but for New World drinkers too.

The nose showed candied cherry, autumnal spices, floral violet tones, undergrowth and hints of wet minerals. On the palate it was lean yet juicy with ripe red berry, cedar and espresso. The balance leaned toward acidity, making this a great pairing at the dinner table but a little hard to comprehend on its own. The finish turned dry, leaving red berry soaked tannin coating the senses.

When first poured, very fruit forward on the nose, like vivid raspberry. Yet the nose fell apart after the second glass; it was hard to smell anything after awhile. The first glass was pleasant, but hollow. Unbalanced, being very back heavy without anything too interesting going on in the actual palate area. Once a good deal of air took hold, the wine was as if a flat bike tire: it could get you there, but it was hard and not all all worth it. The wine feels old, as if it should have been drunken young. I'm not sure what benefit can come from cellaring it.

Initially better nose and fruitier than 2009 but shorter finish. On the next night this did not improve while 2009 showed better integration and juicier finish.
