Classic Coche sensation fully unleashed after 2 hour of slow ox with gunflint, matchstick, citrus and minerals. It had an intense and grippy palate with that Coche flint alongside that alluring salty minerals. It was complex and accessible in its early drinking window. 93-94

Dinner at Auprès du Clocher, Pommard: A big step up from our Meursault at lunch, easily 1er standard. Very pale gold colour. Initially quite subdued on bouquet. A rich, slightly buttery Meursault nose of citrus and honey, with some oak and sulphur present, but very much in proportion. With time in the glass the bouquet began to open, showing a little spice. On palate, rich, layered and complex with real depth, concentration and power. However, there was some leanness and elegance there, with the fruit beautifully balanced and matched with the acidity. On palate you would not necessarily pick it blind as Meursault, a classically-styled white Burgundy, beautifully poised and balanced, with a long, mineral finish.

Quite a bit tighter than the standard village from 2011 and bound up by smoky, petroleum like sulphur. It unfurls ion the glass showing some notes of almond butter and white peach. It is dense with the typical Coche chewiness on the finish.

Sensationally reduced with the soldering smoke and sulphur. Booming massive yellow fruit. Liquorice root spice. Fresh flowers. Palate is completely amazing too. Powerful and long. Good acid. Dense rich fruit. Oily / viscous texture but completely clean and fresh. Expansive and mouth coating. Lemon pith / rind. 94 - 95.

Supremely balanced, smooth and fruity. Classic coche acidic backbone running through the body. Had opened the bottle to breathe for around two hours.
