West London Kebab Research (Fez Mangal): Enjoyed with the finest kebabs in west london. Colour - pale gold. Really lovely stuff - starts off at the less oxidative end of white Rioja, but with a big mouthfeel and it goes on and on. I had been a little worried this might be past it but absolutely not - this bottle sand. WOTN by popular acclaim.

No proper tasting note but I recall a mature straw colour, complex nose and a taste of earth and stones rather than fruit. A really interesting wine which, although mature, I would say would last a year or two yet. It was fine with a vegetable tagine.

A slightly oxaditive style on this bottle - age seems to have turned it a touch, but the quality shines through with tangy minerals over the richer frame - sone tingly struck match notes, but under this there is a calm, mature palate. Not to everyone's palate I would imagine (it can be a bit rich at times) but there is a Grand Cru Burg-like quality about its richness.

59/18/13/6/3/1 Macabeu/Sauvignon Blanc/Grenache Blanc/Chard/Malvoisie/Vermentino. Nose shows waxy hazelnut, almond, yellow apple, seaside minerality, crisp flowers. Palate matches, melon too, a little oxidative, minerality shines, a little weird in the fruit in an interesting way. Nice complexity and medium finish.

Always a nice little outlier - the memory of this long after the event is always a big buttery wine with struck match which puts me off, but every time I drink it I remember what a great wine it is - there is a freshness and acidity to it that keeps the southern French richness at bay. Lots of minerals, flint and loose knit structure - the Macabeo grape give this a touch of grapefruit and banana leaf and roundness as well. More of a food wine but excellent value - a lot of quality here.

Mostly Maccabeu (59%) with some Sauvignon Blanc (18%) and Grenache Blanc (13%), plus touches of Chardonnay (6%), Malvoisie du Roussillon (3%) and Vermentino (1%). High altitude vineyards, granite soils, 21 hl/ha, 10,866 bottles produced, biodynamic viticulture, 72% vinified en cuve, 28% in demi-muid of various ages, 13.5% ABV. Rich and complex nose, hint of spontaneous fermentation aroma, floral, attractive hint of nuttiness; creamy lemon palate, lovely weight, concentration and balance, sweet spices, gentle oak influence, moderate acidity, mineral drive; good length. A superior Roussillon that would give many white Burgundies a run for their money (even if the character is quite different, obviously).

RAW Fair (Truman Brewery, London): Gorgeous nose: similar to a top white burgundy but there's a little melon in there as well. Very taut just now but masses of flavour. Great potential. 17+ 2015+

A little oxidised tones. I don't like it very much at this stage. Maybe an off bottle so not rated.

Very good. Honey and yellow fruit. Superbe palate with depth, flavour, acidity and bitterness. A wine to love.
