Bottle was open all day and 1/3 used for cooking. Dark red color. Cherry, red raspberry, tart cherry, smoke on nose. On palate, raspberry, cherry, glycerin with medium body, medium acidity & med+ finish. Not a re-buy but enjoyable (good QPR). This wine was better in its' youth. 89+

This wine seemed disjointed and uninteresting the first night we drank some. So much so, that we set the bottle aside for a second try the next day. It was worth the wait. It was completely different with amazing complex dark fruits and great purity.

Medium purple color. Slightly warm nose of forest berries, asphalt, and wet slate. Playful Carignan characteristics on the palate, with a solid base of earth, bramble, and stone. Round, dark, mixed berries take the midrange, while succulent, bright acid hits the high notes. Really clear expression of varietal and terroir.

Tasty - didn't take notes but this needed 30 minutes to an hour to come together. My wife really enjoyed as well. Very fruit primary today but enough acidity to keep things interesting. 90+

Appearance: Clear, deep ruby, pale rim. Nose: Clean, medium+ intensity & developing dark berries & cherries. Palate: dry, medium acidity, medium tannin, medium alcohol, medium bodied, medium+ intensity blackberry, light on plum, edge of oak & herbs, medium+ finish length. Very good quality. Ready to drink but can age over the short term. Really good QPR. Very enjoyable.

Simple but enjoyable. Good everyday wine. Sweet fruit, medicinal notes, tar on the nose. Prominent alcohol in the mouth with a tart fruit, slightly tannic flat finish.

Was quite unsure of this one on first taste. Quite high alcohol, along something almost gamey and smoky. Fresh acidity though. After a while it grew on us (that acidity is nice and keeps the fruit nicely) but somewhat unusual, still.

V. pleasant; soft and fruit forward, but in a gentle way: mixture of red and black fruits, and it's not over/highly-extracted; ready. Fairly priced at 12 bones.

Nose - smells somewhat green, also licorice Mouth - big juicy lush berries, broad and expansive on the palate. If I didn't know better I would guess this old vine carignan is a high end zin. Adorable for what it is and a steal at $13.

I like this wine. It reminds me of a harsher Terra Laura Cheverny Rouge, which I love as a crowd pleasing easy drinking choice with big clear fruit coming through. The 2011 Tessellae Vieilles Vignes Carignan Côtes Catalanes opens with cherry and plum, gets a little dry on the back side and bit hot but the fruit holds and the whole experience is pleasant, pulling you back for more and perhaps a second bottle. I will certainly bring in more to see how it plays with more time.

A perfect everyday wine. Opens tight but quickly mellows after a 1/2 hour or so of air. Bold but not overpowering. Well balanced, dark berries, some herb and just a hint of dark chocolate with a lingering dry finish. Just a pleasant wine, and an exceptional value.

PnP. Very interesting wine. Nose of mint, herbs, sweet spices, almost medicinal. On the palate medium bodied, very sweet fruit initially followed by smoked meat, salt and tannin.

at 15% alcohol this pours out hot, but quickly airs out with a few good swirls of the glass and some patience. It is replaced by a fruit forward palate of red berries, floral essesence, cocoa, and morels. Medium red with a thin edge, it continues with a medium body, acid, and finish. BUT when one considers the price it can be obtain at (for now), it is quite a value. Enjoy for the next three years. Taste disappeared late the second day even with evacuation.

tightly wound aromas of red currant and smoky roasted fennel which quickly evolve into framboise liqueur/raspberry jam. On the palate, it's very ripe, packed with raspberry, red currant, lingonberry and red licorice flavors with soft, plush tannins and moderate acidity. Very tasty now, but has the stuffing to go for a few years.

I do not like big, ripe modern wines, but I am a huge carignan fan. I think my love for carignan trumped modern, I liked this for an an everyday, middle of the week quaff with leftovers. Not complex, but just a satisfying, guilty pleasure. My third bottle and felt the same for every one. Eleven bucks and change...

I like this one better than the "old vines". There is better balance and there is more of the terrior coming thru. Garrigue and herbs and notes of the soil and mushrooms. There is some pepper coming thru as well. Good acidity and a long interesting finish.

What this may lack in polish, it makes up in character. Lots of red fruit, briar, and minerality. Fantastic value. Great weeknight wine.
