A nose of dark fruits and spice, dark purple in color. A full bodied Zin blend, with jammy black cherry, blackberry, licorice and pepper and spicy long finish, as all LC’s wines, great stuff. In a very good drinking zone. www.winelx.com

Wonderful wine with big black and blue fruit flavors. Layered with spicy, earthy stuff that just winds in and out seemlessly. Incredibly balanced with no noticeable faults. Surprisingly, the finish is only medium which considering how good this is, was a little bit of a let down. But I am really being picky and probably justifying to myself why the score is not higher.

Perfumed on the nose with cherry pie (unusual for a Zin). Blackberry and blueberries on the palate along with a little roasted meat and maybe a hint of vanilla. Needs more time, probably would get a higher score from me, but very good. Nice wine as usual for Linne Calodo. Love these wines!

This is an outstanding wine if you like big, dark fruit with strong hints of tobacco and modest spice. Not a typical Zinfandel; the Syrah adds wonderful complexity and balance.

Drinks like a Paso Syrah. Would be tough to pick out blind as Zin. No pepper. Big blue fruit. Extracted. Good, but 100% different than the Turley head to head.

Dark saturated red color. Opened with just a bit of funkiness which quickly blew off and was followed by an unexpected menthol/eucalyptus note. Loads of ripe, dark fruit balanced by the savory syrah component. Still lively and fresh on day 2. A top example of PR zin.

Meeting of Minds OG Crew (Craig's Place): Popped and poured; consumed over a four hour period. There's no question that this is a Zinfandel dominated blend. Massive, ripe fruit with a little bit of black pepper. Probably a bit more heat than I would prefer but it's not a jammy mess. A fun, well made wine that pleases well enough...but, considering the tariff, I would probably not visit this often. Anyway, I prefer the Rafanelli style of Zinfandel more and when you have access to that, it's hard to want others.

A ripe and fairly robust style of Zin. Very deep red with a smokey, earthy nose. Plenty of red fruits with grippy tannins. Drinking well at this stage and still going strong after 24 hours of air.

Had a 2011 Problem Child last night and the comparison to this is interesting as the Problem Child is a bit more "jammy" and the Zin shows more in the Problem Child even though the blends are similar; the review by "rdf58" comparing this to the 2011 Problem Child is spot-on. As I wrote before, the Syrah shows here more than would be expected given that it's only 18% of the blend. If you have Outsider and Problem Child in your cellar you should try them side by side and note the taste differences even though the blends are almost identical.

This bottle was a bit closed down compared to the last one. A more earthy, structured style of Zin. Decent acidity and some firm tannins on the finish. Similar fruit character, definitely not jammy. An interesting contrast to the softer, more forward 2011 Problem Child. Might hold the next bottle for a while.

PnP. Nice aromas of berries, smoke and earth. Abundant but not quite jammy cherry-raspberry red fruits balanced by Zin spiciness. Syrah-mouvedre components add decent structure and grip. The acidity is good. Medium-full body with well concealed 15.8% ABV. Fresh and exuberant at this stage but should hold up well for a few years.

Perhaps I popped this cork too soon. That said, I respectfully agree more with the previous review of "pufferfish" than "sebastian". I think the balance is fantastic. I think the zin portion of this wine is a bit subdued and the Syrah shows through more than would be expected given that Syrah is only 18% of the bottle. The initial taste is dark fruit; the middle seems a bit light on flavor(s) and the finish is subtle but long with the Syrah lingering. If I'm being picky, I would say this is a well made wine but I wish the Zin was showing a bit more. Drinking well now but may change as it's still young.

The wine is clear and bright with a deep ruby colour and dense legs. The nose is clean and developing, with medium intensity aromas of very ripe plums, dark cherries, strawberries, dried peaches, black pepper and vanilla. It's dry in the mouth, with medium acidity, medium+ supple tannins, high alcohol, full body and medium+ intensity flavours of very ripe plums, dark cherries, dried peaches, black pepper and vanilla. Medium+ finish. It's a very good quality winee with a pretty decent concentration and amazing tannin ripeness and mouthfeel, but it lacks elegance and finesse due to the overripe fruit notes. Can drink now, but it could develop more complexity in the next 2-3 years, and can be kept for another 1-2 years more.

Jammy fruit on the nose with all the best of parts of a zin and all the potential pitfalls balanced by the other varietals it is blended with. It starts out light on the tip of your tongue and ramps up mid-palate with a red/dark red fruit flavor. The finish is long and pleasant accompanied by light tannins.

Purple. Meat, spice and minerals on the nose. Lots of dark fruit, moderate intensity, low acid, mild tannins, nice finish. Many people's WOTN, my #3.
