A small gathering - 02 Lignier MSD VV, 82 and 86 Mouton, 96 Giacosa Asili (Undisclosed location in McLean, VA): Absolutely gorgeous youthful nose displaying generous sweet rich red fruit, strawberry, raspberry jam, smoke, sous bois, light caramel, cep and earth. Perfectly mature palate, layers upon layers of sweet red fruit, rich and oily but also very precise, bright acidity, strong mineral, and a seamless long sweet red fruit driven finish with caramel at the end. This shows how great mature Burgundy can be. In lieu of the current insane demands, most Burgundies are drunk way too you.

1 cm and appeared to be domain late release. Bottle breathed for 15 minutes and finished in 2 hrs. Light red color, with berries and fruits and quite fresh and elegant. After 1+ hrs, turning to sous bois and chocolate. Very much approachable now, but in good condition, can last another 3-5 yrs.

P&p, light red almost translucent, full of secondary aromas with bit of red fruits, barnyard, salted cabbage, a nose to die for, good concentration better than the bottle drunk last year, lovely lovely mature Burg! Great bottle 95

Clear in the glass and pale tawny. The nose is developed and there was a surprising amount of sediment. The nose has barnyard and earth on it. The palate was dry with medium acidity and low tannins and low alcohol. The body is light and the finish is medium. In the mouth there are still red fruits and some cigars. This is a complex wine that is very secondary. I preferred this to the 1978 of the same producer and vinyard. This needs to be drunk however as I feel it is fading.

Cork held rather well, level still high at shoulder. Color was brownish, very light / transparent. Closed a first, never let much on the nose but on the palate it was still woody, not quite plummy. Had over one hour and it didn't fade at all, like some older wines oxidise fast - this didn't. Drink up but enjoy it !

Tasted at a La Paulee Lunch. Medium-light brick. Nose of tobacco, some earth and wood. Very soft and mature on the palate, not oxidative at all. Not quite as good as the 78 during this lunch but not far off.
