Purchased at the Frankfurt airport duty free a few years ago, this got "lost" in my cellar. Well no matter, as it was still very fresh, with plenty of stone fruit and tropical tones, as well as refreshing acidity. Lovely wine that was right there with top Pinot Blancs I have had from producers such as Boxler or Hiedler.

Deep yellow, oily texture. Bursts with tropical fruits, sweet and exotic. Vanilla and a tiny bit of grass in the background. A very compelling, yet simple and straight forward, nose. Nicely balanced acidity on the palate and some liquorice in the aftertaste. Highly drinkable and the qpr is just insane at €11.

(Mostly) Northern Rhone Night (Browntrout - Chicago, IL): Fresh, fresh, fresh. Thought that some air benefitted the wine as it started off a bit plump, but the softness seemed to slink away with some air and was replaced by fresh cut melons and herbs. This isn't a long-term wine, I think. Probably in a good spot for the next 3-5 years.

Geeky Syrah Night at Browntrout (Chicago, IL): This has a very tropical and fruity nose, with a slight bit of pineapple character. The palate seems like it has a bit of residual sugar (despite the label saying this is trocken). If you've had those Kasugai muscat gummy candies, you'll understand what I mean when I say that this had a little bit of a Japanese grape candy flavour on the palate. Nonetheless, this was very light and tasty, but also fatter, richer, and with less acidic cut than wines made from the grape for which Dönnhoff is so rightly famous.

next bottle of this fine stuff, and again...... very good with food, often fish, this time perch, but can easily accompany sausage, meat or chorizo as well, midweight body, still very fresh, long finish, 87- 89+?

another great bottle with food, mineralic and acidic, very unusual for a german Weißburgunder, but it helps very well to accompany the meal....., yellow fruit, still very young, hope I will retain some bottle for a longer run, will get more balanced in 2+ years, 87-89+

Wow.... and wow again, for me one of the best german Weißburgunder in the 10.- Euroarea not touched by wooden casks, in this vintage strong, fresh acidity, touch of blowing flowers, served with arabic dish, lamb with vegetables sweet and sharp........, real elegant power, long+ finish, still very young, Top!

OK-ish but rather unambitious.
Clean and round and boring - you know this type of wine.
Half of its EUR 11.50 price tag is spent on the name here.
For fairness sake I should add that we drank this among some excellent rieslings; on its own it might have performed better.
