Tremendous wine. Took an hour or so to open but wow what a wine. We drank it over 6 hours on NYE and saved a glass for today and it was even better. so well balanced and a looong finish. Wish I had another 6 bottles to hold for a while.

Can't really be fair to this one, as it was the fourth bottle of the night among a group of five, and my taste buds were pretty burnt out from two spoofy wines served earlier. No worries, as my expectations weren't that high based on previous bottle.

Briefly decanted and consumed over the next couple of hours. Rich, full-bodied and absolutely delicious. A great balance of juicy acidity and firm tannins on the finish. A another great effort from Michael Keenan. Drink up...at its peak.

My partner's comment: "Mmm. Really rich, good." The first bottle we've tried since shortly after purchase. A big merlot. Dark crimson, no fading at the rim. Spice and some alcohol (14.8%) on the nose . Rich, slightly monolithic dark fruits on the palate, very long finish. Nice tannic grip. Delicious wine.

Paired this with a charcouterie plate followed by a dairy-free corn chowder. While the wine is big, concentrated, we found it lacked the nuance I associate with the Spring Mountain AVA. Parker gives i a 93 and suggests a drink window of 2015-2025. Perhaps this will improve...

Opened this for my father who really likes Merlot, so we thought we'd open one that's got a reputation. My take was this had a more tannic profile than a lot of merlot but is still pretty simple. Black plums led the way; leafy aromas and a little green taste. While this was well executed, I am still not on the merlot bandwagon, and this doesn't change things.

Stayed very closed after decanting for 2 hours and drinking over 3 hours. Will try again in 1-2 years.

Dark ruby color, spice and fruit on the nose. Chocolate and dark red fruit on the palate, good tannin structure and long finish. Drinking well now.

The IWC review is spot on. While plesant it does not merit the price.
