Clear ruby red color with a clear edge, opened 60-75 minutes ahead of dinner. Pleasant red fruit and spice nose, deceivingly light on palate but with an intense level of mostly red berry fruit with notes of anise (couldn't detect any floral or rose As others have suggested), tannins were integrated and finished long with fruit and spice. This was our first bottle purchased upon release from Ceritas. It really was an excellent wine served with grilled porterhouse pork chops. Seems like it will age well.

This wine has improved immensely over the past few years. It’s elegant but has some heft. The nose is captivating with berries, anise, and vanilla. Silky in the mouth with plum, black tea, and roses. Tannins are barely noticeable but they are there to provide structure. I always felt Ceritas’ strength was with its Chardonnay but this is gorgeous.

Medium ruby, transparent. Subtle and exotic on the nose - showing sandalwood, pomegranate, black tea, dried hibiscus, clove, vanilla bean and hints of anise. Elegant palate with great purity in its expression - layered fig & pomegranate and pressed red florals over a dense core of iron earth and spices, gaining volume through the middle. Great integration structurally, with vibrant but rounded acid and fine dense tannins and nice zesty length on the finish. In a great place, still plenty of youth to this.

Really like this. Cherry, sweet, menthol - like Luden’s cough drops but in a crisp light way. Lovely fragrance. It will be even better with some air. I didn’t have time to decant this enough.

Light ruby color with clarity. Aromatics of pomegranate, allspice, tea leaf, pressed violet, sandalwood. Snappy and sumptuous primary fruit on the palate with compressed secondary depth consistent with the nose. Terrific fruit intensity, with finesse-driven structure and polish through the middle palate. Bright acidity and fine tannins, finishing crisp and dry with solid mouthwatering length. Drinking well and in a good place, but lay it down if you're looking for more maturity.

Beautiful, light, and pure. Starts off soft on the palate, maybe it's over the hill? Then acid and a mineral grip kicks in, delicious. Finished shorter than I'd like. Drink up.

This is showing the same as it has since I first tried it! Not bad just odd simply delicious with the wonderfully cherry, bark, spices, kisses of minerals and perfume on the nose, lots of ripe fruit on the plate with medium plus acidity and length wish I could revisit in another 5 years!

Good, but hoping for a bit more depth. Back cherry notes, hint of cola, leaves the palate with a hint of sweetness (I don’t mean sugar). Quite aromatic.

Coming into its own in late '17. Very much a "food wine" - quite dry, though with just enough fruit to identify it as California Pinot. Acid again just enough to keep things together. Texture is properly soft, pillowy - a pleasure. On the whole shows what Sonoma Coast Pinot is all about - lots of conflicting elements in a beautiful tension, but not calling attention to any single one. I would give this another two years (late '19), but likely to fade quickly after that.

PnP Not getting much aromatics, but the tart cherries and pomegranates are quite enjoyable. Good acid to make it lively, just wish the mid came about more. Still plenty of life left if you are patient enough.

Lots of light coming through the wine in the glass—pretty red plum color. Delicate nose, slightly flowery—geranium—slightly fruity—light strawberry. Quite light on the tongue. Slight suggestion of strawberry, but, more interestingly a flavor of, more than anything else, cinnamon. Nice acid on the rear of the tongue and palate makes for a very refreshing wine..

These are coming along nicely. Still young, but developing some gorgeous spice, herbal and earthy notes. Slightly broad shouldered yet elegant. I thought the Escarpa was a little more lithe than the Elliot, but they were drank on different nights and not compared side to side. These two bottles made me very happy I have a lot of Ceritas Pinots.

Coravin test after 2 weeks. No noticeable difference so same notes apply. Really enjoyable and elegant wine. Btw, was planning to continue the coravin test but accidentally inserted the needle before pushing a bit of argon/nitrogen through to clear out any air. Decide better to drink the rest of the bottle while watching GoT. Even that couldn't help me buy the ridiculous Hodor story line.

I am seriously digging these Ceritas wines. Rich S's review nails it. You know you are in for something different right at the start from the lighter color. These are just so light on their feet and balance the acid and straw/raspberry flavors so well. Nose just jumps from the glass. Just a nice counterpoint to some of the bigger fruit dominated Cali pinots. Each has their place but these rock in their own way. Slowly coming around to this whole cluster thing when done right. This was my first test run of my coravin so we'll see if I notice any difference on the next glass although not planning to push it too long until I'm more confident with it.

What a difference a little over a year makes! Light ruby color. Beautiful nose of juicy red fruits, slightly brambly, with baking spices and floral notes. Mostly strawberry and raspberry fruit on the palate with light baking spice notes and slight hints of citrus. Medium+ acidity with a light and juicy mouthfeel and profile. 12.9% abv and just so delicious and easy to drink and enjoy.

I thought I detected some TCA on this, but I was in the minority. Some florals and red cherry underneath, but there's a dominant dirty overtone that I just cannot get past. A little flat on the palate as well, leading me to believe that this is not a pristine bottle.

This took forever to come around, finally showing some sweet cherry fruit on the nose. Palate was light, with red fruits, and a bit sour with a slightly green steamy note. Short to moderate finish--fresh and bitter but not complex. I was hoping for a bit more given the price. Hold and cross fingers.
Ok, much better and more expressive on night 2. More in line with expectations. Bumped a point.

Popped and poured. Light ruby color, watery meniscus. Tart red fruit and lots of baking spices on the nose with a hint of darker fruit and forest floor underneath. Little evidence of oak treatment. Similar flavors on the palate with tart red raspberry and cherry flavors with some Christmas spice notes on the back end and a tart finish. Lots of acidity, low to medium tannin and pretty lightweight on the palate. I really enjoy this style of pinot but this offering seemed almost too light. Some more bottle age would probably help it fill out a bit.

Pop and pour and served with food (chicken meatballs in tomato sauce and chicken soup with pastene, in case you were wondering). Followed for about 3 hours. Nose is earth and with a hint of cedar. Dry on the palate with medium+ flavor intensity. High acid, medium to low tannin. Juicy and bright red fruit- cherry and raspberry; earth notes of limestone, chalk, mushroom; spice notes of cardamom, allspice, sandalwood. Harmonious and finesse-driven. Silky fine-grain tannin. Complex, and full on the finish. Drinking very well out of the gate, with a lot of future promise.
