Light yellow with hints of gold. Aromas of lemon, tangerine, sea air, spring water, a hint of florality. Honeyed fruit on the palate, smooth medium to full body, medium to high acids, low to medium alcohol, a hint of perfumed lychee at the back, medium finish. Very clean lines, pure, not particularly complex but precisely delineated.

Pale gold. Shy nose of figs and toasted almonds. Limpid fruit on the palate with flavors dried pears, strong acids, some sherried notes at the back, medium bodied, low alcohol, long finish. Somewhat delicate with lovely balance and melding. [I have 8 previous tasting notes on this wine going back to 2015 and honestly I'm having trouble seeing any consistency, except that I liked it each time. Wondering what that means.]

Pale yellow, developing a tinge of gold. Complex aromas of honey, gardenia, walnut, stony minerality, a hint of fresh mown lawn. Perfectly centered, medium-bodied fruit on the palate, lemon and yellow plums, lovely broad halo of acid, smooth aromatic transition into the long finish. Perfectly balanced, stunningly delicious. 13% alcohol.

92 pts

5th of 6 bottles. PnP this evening as we were preparing dinner. Delicious aromas of lime and grapefruit, with wet rocks, honey, white pepper, and straw notes. The palate is clean, bright, and tense, with zippy acidity and a long, refreshing finish. Drink the final bottle anytime between now and 2021.

Light gold. Light lemony nose with a whisper of dry grass and white pepper. Limpid density on the palate, Cape gooseberries with a hint of nuts, crackling acids, lemongrass at the back, long moving finish that wakes the mind. Coherent in its progression, poised and balanced. A lovely wine. 50 + 17 + 18 + 9 = 94.

Enjoying today with baby artichokes in EVOO and lemon juice...what a nice pairing! PnP this wine, and the color shows a medium straw hue. The nose shows fresh hay, gooseberry, minerality, with a dollop of lemon and honey. The palate echoes the nose, showing tension and verve into the bright and layered finish. Drink this beauty now through 2022 or so...

92+ pts

Brought to dinner at Zula's tonite, enjoyed with Hamachi crudo and a bucket of French mussels. Delicious. TN from memory... Aromas of freshly cut hay, gooseberry and citrus, with hints of chalk. Palate was full and inviting, showing off the fruit at first, with a bit of honeyed richness, then immediately reeled-in by the energetic acidity. Finishes with tension and some salinity, showing nice persistence on the palate. In a beautiful spot now. I have no experience with older Boulay Sancerre's, but Rimmerman says they can last 20 years. I would drink this wine through 2022 and be just fine with it. Really nice...expensive at $39, but worth every penny.

I messed up the food pairing for this wine. I was trying to pair it to one of our guest's palate- not the food on her plate- it was her birthday. Ah well. It was still vibrant delicious stuff. This time, all about acidity and raw under ripe pineapple (in a good way). Love the wine.

Didn't record this about a month ago, but it was just terrific - electric energy from acid + minerals but also full of citrus and maybe stone fruit. It was a delight on its own and went gangbusters with a dinner anchored by moderately picante Mexican seafood stew. It'd be seriously good with a lot of things.

Boulay's 2012 Clos de Beaujeau is a superb bottle of Sancerre, busting from the glass with a lovely bouquet of green gooseberry, bitter orange, lime and wet chalk. On the palate the wine is deep, pure and full-bodied, with electric minerality and great acids. Right now the wine is still quite tight-knit, and will really unfurl over the coming decade, but it is already a bit more textural and gourmand than the more searingly stony corresponding vintage of Monts Damnées.

Brought to La Poste and enjoyed with several small plates. This wine was divine upon opening, with grassy notes up front and red grapefruit in the background, and all lightly drizzled with honey. The wine was med in body, with a tense and energetic acidity lending to the excitement this wine offers with each sip. The grapefruit and spice note lingers on the delicious finish. This is a wonderfully balanced and complex wine, just entering into it's drinking window. It will continue to further improve for another 2-3 years, and drink nicely through 2022+, although having very little experience with older Sancerre's, I would err on the "sooner" side.

From memory. Enjoyed at a busy dinner table full of conversations and lots of kids (plenty of distraction). Green tinged straw in color. orchard fruit on the exotic side of white (ripe pear), with some honey and quinine. Very lively on the palate with bright citrus, some sweetness as well as a little smokey salinity. I would like to see this in a few years. With one bottle left, barring tragedy, I will have that opportunity.

Excellent. 92+ pts

Really good. Would definitely buy again. Very smooth, low acidity, altogether a really tasty wine. Paired very well with bread, goat cheese, and goat cheese blends, and the flavor transformed with spicy copa. We chilled it for about six hours, and it tasted great right out of the bottle. We kept it chilled for the duration of the drinking experience.
