Courtesy of J&A. Medium yellow color. There's a bit of oxidation here- not a surprise, after five to seven years or so these Kistlers have as many misses as hits- but there's a bit of citrus lurking underneath. Oxidation shows up on the palate as well, but when sipped with our meal, the oxidative qualities fade and what fruit remains comes forward. Good with our meal, worthy of the dump bucket on its own, score reflects how it showed with dinner.

I have tasted through all of my '03 single vineyard Kistlers: They are DELICIOUS! What a testament to Kistler that these wines show so well 12-13 years later -- better than a lot of Grand Cru Burgundies. ThisCuvee Cathleen had that extra little delicate nuance that this bottling seems to have. Sorry I only have one more bottle...

One of the starting whites for the big Kistler Pinot dinner.
Despite its 11 years of age, this was fresh and lively - even a tint of green was noted in the colour. Exceptional fruit purity featuring stone and tropical fruit but laced with a lively streak of acidity that kept everything together. Exceptional.

Nearly perfect and went nearly perfect with a roasted cornish hen for the new year. The weight and richness was stunning and the finsih ws fantastic. I think a well stored bottle will be excellent but would not wait too long since ohter 2002 Kistlers I have had recently were on the downward slide.

Old gold color with moderate clearing at the edges. Nuts and dried tropical fruit open this up, and are followed by oak, citrus including lemon and burnt orange, and intense stony minerality. Notes of dried herbs and iodine. Silky smooth up front with medium acidity in the middle. Finishes long and strong. Showing her age but still a sexy lady.

After having dumped many of our older Kistler chardonnays due to oxidation this chardonnay was exceptional. Golden yellow color, with a floral and citrus nose, dense multilayer fruit with a strong mineral component. The fruit was still a bit restrained but carried through the very long finish. Looking forward to our remaining bottles.

Light yellow/gold color. Aromas of citrus, white flowers and minerals. Ripe, beautifully balanced fruit in the mouth with great complexity, depth and length. What struck me most about this wine was its restrained power and elegance on the palate. This is truly a remarkable, delicious California chardonnay and is firmly in its peak drinking period.

Really sappy and intensly long. The fruit has evolved making it, dare I say, very Montrachet-like. Fine intense mineral coats the palate. This was likely painful to drink in it's youth.

Deep golden color, great bouquet of fruit and toasty oak, the wine still had excellent fruit, good acidity and was very rich with layers of flavor and a long, long finish. Really outstanding and drinking beautifully right now.

i was pretty unimpressed by this for quite a while, but it really evolved in the glass. it also needed to be drunk at a moderate temp, not too cold, as i believe i had it too cold on opening. i'll have to look at my note, but from memory, i liked a recent 03 hyde more. still, a quality wine, probably held a bit too long. mild oak remained, high citrus profile. jane and i agree on the score.

Rich and creamy, Full bodied Chard, focused around complex layers of pear, vanilla, hazelnut, and honey. Delicate and Elegant. Finishes up big and full with a heavy coat of Pear and vanilla. - JD94

Surprising cigar box fragrance; packed with supporting cast of fruit namely pineapple, unsweetened coconut, stone fruit galore, lightly grilled/smoked. If one were to smoke a very dry pina colada, this is the impression. Well structured pronounced flavours braced with acids absolutely staying power with toasted fruit via tropics.

Kistler Cuvee Cathleen Dinner (Magnolia Cafe - Chicago IL): All tropical fruit aromas and flavors with plenty of new oak spice. Easy to enjoy, but I'd be drinking this very young given seemingly low levels of acid. Showed clear on finish. Others enjoyed this far more than I did tonight.

Flock - Cuvee Cathleen Dinner (Magnolia Cafe - Chicago, IL): Full, explosive nose is rich and opulent with aromas of pineapple, coconut, butterscotch and toast. The palate is round and lush, with low acid and ripe fruit that slathers the palate. A rich and heady wine. Loads of fruit and toast --- needs time to integrate. But event today a wow effort.

Drunk after an hour of decanting, but could have used more. Still young. Good nose, excellent, lingering length. Excellent tastes of stone and barely ripe stone fruit. To me, lacks a bit of depth for this bottling. Good acid and lemon component add to the balance of the wine. Impeccable balance. A good wine, an excellent wine, but I didn't find it close to the "astounding" reviews elsewhere.

Uncorked DK BYO - 85 Cristal Rose, 90 DRC RSV, 90 La Landonne, 82 Mouton and more... (Søllerød Kro): Light yellow. Delicious buttery nose, gunpowder and some minerals. Very spicy and intense in mouth showing a delicious licorice-infused minerality and plenty of toast. In spite of the fatness and spicyness there is good restraint. Works from A to Z, but does lack just a bit of complexity.
