This was terrific. Ready to go pretty much out of the gate, classic Napa fruit and oak, integrated tannins, vanilla, chocolate, raspberry, blackberry, graphite, cedar, awesome. I had the 1999 recently and this blew it out of the water. Drink and enjoy.

Clear deep red colors in main body of the glass with some orange/burnt colors at edge. Long thin legs. Wonderful full aged aroma. Sweet fruit & oak entry with medium complex cherry & earth flavors. Medium body leading into wonderful acidic tart flavors with pleasant cherry & spice lingering flavors. Tannis still intact. Drink now, but would not be surprised if this could go one more year. Amazing wine! Wonderful example of a well made Cali wine that has aged well.

4th Saturday Group brown bagger (R&D's): Single blind. Opens with a hint of roasted bell pepper, violet, red currant fruit, herbal/green aromas and tobacco. A simply gorgeous bouquet. Medium-bodied, with softened tannin and flavors of plum, currants and cigar tobacco with a lengthy finish.
At first I thought this might have been Bordeaux (the rest of the group thought Bordeaux- R guessed 2003 St. Emilion), but the fruit pointed toward new world and I began to suspect it was our bottle. This had been quickly double decanted off its sediment about 1.25 hrs before the flight was poured. For my palate, this is at peak. I hope my last two bottles show as well as this one did. 92-93 pts.
Popped & poured, this was quite a bit better after a good bit of air. Notes of leather and dark fruit give way to tobacco and violets. Medium tannins with flavors of cassis, leather and black fruit. Enjoyable now, and should hold.

Second Sunday Group: 2001 CA cabs (Anvil Club): Popped & poured with dinner following the tasting. Nice mix of red and black currants, florals and cocoa. Balanced and nicely integrated, with floral, red berry and plum flavors. Has an elegance to it. Develops a leather note with air. Pretty. I would have liked to have seen how this would have fared in the blind flight.

Popped and poured, everyone enjoyed. Very soft tannins, almost non-existant. Nose of oak and dark fruits, a little sweet. Dark fruit on the tongue, a little chocolate as well. Wish I had more.

Friday night at home with Lee and Lisa and steaks. Opened and decanted. Ok on the night - didn't finish. Pumped and drank the next night - much better. Only bottle in the cellar.

Quite solid napa cab drinking at it's peak. Classic Napa nose, still had a good mount of fruit, but softening tannins. Lingering finish. Nicely balanced all the way. Perfect pairing with beef tenderloin and Cabernet reduction sauce.

Popped and poured and consumed over 3 hours. Pretty much the same as my previous TN. Very good cabernet in its' prime. Last of these which is a shame. Certainly worth buying if you come across it.

Popped and poured but about two thirds of the bottle was kept until the following evening and provided quite a different experience compared to the last bottle i had a few months ago. This drank very nicely indeed on the second night. Nice cassis and chocolate covered cherry fruit with a smooth mouthfeel. Medium length finish with integrated tannins and notes of black tea and a hint of spice. An elegant, well balanced cabernet which, based on this performance, still has a few years of prime drinking left.

Dark color, mildly opaque. I find this nose intoxicating, it smells of mature Napa cab- that sweet fruit with a bit of a plummy side and really good eucalyptus high tones. There's also cedar, kirsch liqueur, and a slightly roasted quality. It's very rich on the tongue, with gobs of dark fruit and a great mouthfeel. It's still got some tannin, but that's pretty mellow. The finish is really gentle, albeit a little fat. This is delicious Napa cab just entering its drinking window. My guess is it'll peak in 2-4 years, then start slowly sliding down. If I could buy more now I would.

Quite smooth and elegant with dark cherry fruit. Secondary notes of chocolate and spice emerged with a little air time. Notes of black tea on the 20 second finish. tannins are fully resolved at this point. Still very good but began to fade a little after about 4 hours giving the impression it is on the downward curve now. Drink over the short term.

Decanted briefly for sediment only. Garnet to dark garnet color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Nose of Kirsch, currants and berries that pretty much carry straight through to the palate with some added notes of plum. Medium acidity and tannins, medium to full bodied. Drink now.

Cedar, tar, dark fruits, raspberry, soft taffy, hints of chocolate and spicy Dr Pepper were all evident in the nose of this delicious wine. The mouth was full and the tannins still very prevalent while a persistent acidity kept this very full, fruity wine from becoming flabby. The profile started with the big, dark fruit on the middle tongue and while the more complex notes took over the acidity mingled with the fruit on the palate and the back of the tongue. All while the tannins filled the mouth and drew you in for another sip. One thing lacking in this Napa Cab was a long finish; as this finish was medium in length.

Completely stereotypical Napa Cab, and I mean that not derogatorily but just to convey the signature flavor and profile. Big, body, nice fruit. Still some tannins, though mild.

Opened and decanted about an hour before serving. Please note that this wine does have some sediment. Dark garnet to purple color in the glass, fairly clear hue throughout. Nose of currants, smoke, berries and cherries. Flavors of plums, berries and cherries. Medium acidity and tannins, medium to full body. Drink over the shorter term.

Decanted for about 3 hours. Dark wine, almost purple. The nose was of sweet napa cab with a slightly minty side, a little oak. This was best with food, showing velvety deep fruit, decent acid structure, and still plenty of tannin. It has a slightly bitter finish. Overall I really like this one and I feel like it's just coming out of its childhood. It could probably use another 5 years and has the potential to gain a point or two.

we drank the wine fairly soon after opening. It took us (4 people) about 1 hour to finish and was universally praised as delicious. It was aged just about perfectly. I have 5 bottles left and will be drinking them over the next year or two. I had never had wine from this winery before, and don't recall how I acquired it. But it was a winner and a wonderful example of cabernet. Tahoe Bob
Incredible nose. Typical Napa Cab on the palate. Needed about an hour of air to shine. It had an overbearing sweet fruit note running through it for the first hour. After that settled down it was very enjoyable.

Opened and decanted before dinner, consumed over two hours or so. Deep garnet color. Amazingly tight, with cassis and blackberry notes. Tannic and massive, with tight black fruit and spice, maybe a touch of minerality on the finish. The consensus of those who tasted this was that this has lots of potential, but it's just too soon.

I was a bit disappointed with the last bottle I had from this vintage, but the tannins have since resolved, leaving a very plush wine with plenty of fruit. Clearly showed up the Bordeaux we also served with our meal.
