  • Dark ruby/purple in color, this young Barbera is very tight on the nose showing hints of red berries and mushroom. The palate is little angular, being so young, with red cherry, raspberry, strawberry, licorice, and some mushroom. The acidity is low/medium, the tannins are low, and the finish is relatively smooth with medium length. It is a good table wine that will benefit from a couple of years of cellaring. Nonetheless, it is enjoyable and it is good on its own or with food.

  • Delicious!
Beautiful clarity in the raspberry hue, slight floral fragrance, then clean bright fruit with a dash of earth and spice . Everything seems to be in balance here - acid, fruit, alcohol and tannins. This wine is closer to a Pinot than a Barolo in weight and texture and is extremely versatile. This goes with almost anything. I decanted about 30 minutes and it was fine. Really nice wine!

  • Santa Caterina is the higher part of the Lazzarito vineyard 340-390m above sea level, exposed to the South West and just below Guido’s house. This sheltered, sandstone slope has produced an absolute beauty of a Barbera in 2012: seamless and silky and yet full of guts. It is a riot of hedgerow berries which will put a huge mid-week smile on your face. Drink now and for the next 5 years
