Had this the other day but have forgotten. Thankfully, there's a half-glass left. Only 7.5% ABV but what a nose! Peach, honeysuckle, cream. Superb weight and oily density. So luscious. Fresh as the morning sunrise on a bright spring day. So balanced, refined, lofty, alive. Glorious.

I’ve been a little on the cautious side with this wine as a lightweight pleasant sort but I think it’s possibly got a little better. This bottle seemed a touch richer and softer maybe with less of the citrus cut. Not a big rich sweet GK and still light on its feet but finding its place.

Quite delicate and rather light in many ways. Certainly not a typical Auslese and certainly not a GK. pale gold, pineapple - not had a bottle in a couple of years and no real change. Should be good for a number of years yet.

Amazing right now. Great mineral notes, perfect sweetness and interesting fruit and some little aging notes. Honey, melon, ripe lychee and some toffee on the palate. Very precise acidity on the palate, medium-long finish. Just beautiful in the moment but could easily last another 10 years.
This hasn't budged much since my last bottle 8 years ago despite the fact that this specimen had seeped and had corrosion on the capsule. Much more citric and pineappley than other Brucke Auslese I'm familliar with. The firmly high-acid and lower-botritis elements of the vintage here are clear even in an Auslese. It took a lot of air to bring out the creamy mineral qualities on the finish but it's surely there. Linear and not the deepest Brucke Auslese at this stage but I'm curious if it will fan out. Has a clean, golden quality and i'm sure they had to select carefully to get any botritised bunches for this.

Chicago ♥ Dönnhoff (Chicago, IL): #16-05, 7.5% abv. From half bottle. Somehow, this was much bigger than the 2003, and showing a lot more stewed fruit character. I took the last sip of this wine home with me, and by then the bottle had completely fallen apart into disjoint stewed fruit elements. That the cork was completely stuck to the side of the bottle and had to be extracted as powder makes me think this wasn't stored properly in its earlier years. I'll pull one of mine soon to double-check this assessment.

Taste: Medium bodied with medium/high acidity. The acidity is crisp and more on the refreshing side and is well in balance. There is an underlying sweetness with mangoes, peaches, green apples, honeydew, and some pears.
Overall: This was a great way to end the evening. There was a real succulent side to this. It does still feel rather primary and it could need more time to really get better.

Cinammon, nutmeg, a little sandalwood and peaches on the nose. Beautiful sweet peaches and pears om the attack but nicely balanced with acidic structure. Very light and deft, went fantastically well with haddock baked with blue cheese.

Took a little while to open up. Classic Donnhoff elegance and very light on its feet. Wine Advocate review might be a little overblown, but I'll reserve judgement until next time.

An interesting nose of sea air/foam, honeyed stone fruit. On the palate it seemed almost dry on night one and a little closed. On day two it it was appropriately sweet with a rich mid-palate, balancing acidity, and nice finish.

Cinammon, nutmeg, lemon oil and limestone on the nose. Still a little young and reticent, but nice sweet peaches, pears and lemon oil on the palate. Thickly textured, but good supporting acidity and a nice minute long finish. Still many, many good years ahead of it, but a wonderful companion to take out thai.

Much more closed than the one we had six months ago. Mostly petrol, minerals and sweat on the nose, but the finish was long and delicious. In the mouth, there were green apples, citrus, minerals. The red fruits were not present in this bottle at this time.

Again from 375ml. Drinking beautifully! The wine has integrated and blossomed since my last taste 7 years ago. Drink or hold for your heirs.

Very tricky cork, seemed way more advanced than the 03 tasted alongside. Questions around whether this was a sound bottle.

Rotating Dinner Series- Bernard Levet Cote-Roties (Rustic House, Chicago IL): Nose: There was a real attractive succulent-ness to the nose with mangoes, peaches, green apples, pears, caramel, and honeydew. There is excellent depth with there still being more of a primary take to the tones.
Taste: Medium bodied with medium/high acidity. The acidity is crisp and more on the refreshing side and is well in balance. There is an underlying sweetness with mangoes, peaches, green apples, honeydew, and some pears.

Needs time. This will be a great wine in time but today it needs to settle down quite a bit. Sweet and some nice spice.
