Probably past peak but was pleasant. Fruit was weaker than typical cab, tannin soft. Enough texture and overall balance to be enjoyed. Think it’s an example that it’s better to have a Bordeaux variety just past peak than way too early.

Rutherford Grove Winery Tasting - August 2012 (Rutherford, California - Napa Valley): Dark brick red color with dark cherry, cassis and oak aromas. On the palate, it's smooth, light-bodied and shows good acidity with black cherry, black currant, and a hint of raspberry flavors. Medium-finish. Blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and small amounts of Cabernet Franc and Petite Verdot.

WS has it right -- ripe currant, black cherry, cedar, anise and blackberry. Nice, long finish. Needs a little air, tells me it has time to go. Our first bottle, we'll wait a while for our next.

Old notes from 3-20-08. Best value i purchased in the 90's. Cedar, anise, nice bluberry and current flavors on a complex finish with perfect intagrated tannins.

Black cherry, currant, pepper and ripe plum on the nose. Rich full body with oak tannins coming through to the palate. This wine is not completely balanced yet, with emphasis on the spices. Long finish, but some lingering heat. This was an enjoyable bottle, which has the structure to cellar well for quite a few more years.

Already displaying brown on it's edges this wine has a really sweet nose of licorice, cherry cough syrup, brown sugar, cinnamon, and cassis. The fruit is a tad lighter than I like, but there's so many sensations on the finish. Fresh ripe strawberries, underbrush, green pepper, herbs, eucalyptus and toasted oak slide down the throat. I found it slightly tannic with some room for improvement.

93% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Cabernet Franc, 3% Petite Verdot from 3 vineyard sights in Napa valley. Tried 1 blind in October 2003 in a 97 Cab tasting. Big black fruit flavors with dark chocolate and berry notes. Smooth with firm tannins. 90.

Decent wine. Firm tannins are present, fruit a bit subdued, a little heat on the finish.

Opened one with some friends. Seems to be fading. Rustic around the edges with less fruit than before. Some barnyard type notes. 88 points.

Very enjoyable, but missing a little in the balance causing it to barely be out of the 90s.
