Brought the worst Italian vintage 2002, Galatrona vs the best vintage 2002 BERINGER Private Reserve. For me and several others the Galatrona was better. Smooth black fruits with typical Italian mineral verve. Decanted for 1-1/2 hrs.

Very dark red. Blackberry and blackberry syrup, floral too. Concentrated and long lasting cherry and blackberry in the mouth, just beginning to develop secondary nuance. Tannin is there, for sure but not a flaw.

Decanted for 1+hrs in afternoon. Alessandro, Puntino's swommelier, detected chocolate on the nose, and Ellen agreed. Rich, voluptuos Merlot which evolved a bit through dinner. Still a little tight, but exceptional for the vintage.

Medium intensity color, ruby to garnet, opaque. Very intense nose, Christmas pudding, dark cherry, cinnamon and clove. Balanced tannin and acidity, dark cherry, plum, mocha and spice. Finish goes on and on. Very well made, absolutely merlot, but also definately Italian.

Sir Orr's Birthday Dinner (Totoraku): Still tastes incredibly young and fruit-forward and vibrant.

Nose: Ripe dark berries, cinnamon spice, rose petal, cake, very delicate.
Body: lush, sweet, rustic but still q tannic.
Good to drink now.
