Gaja Dinner with Yarom and the gang at Locanda Veneta on April 13th meaty and rich, slightly restrained nose, slightly acidic, sweet finish, pretty strawberry fruit

A memorable gathering (BRX American Bistro - Great Falls, VA): Expressive nose displaying perfectly ripe black fruit, blackberry, black cherry, licorice, tar, strong iron, baking spices, rose and mineral. Very good concentration, nicely layered pure black fruit, elegant and round, medium acidity and strong limestone mineral, noticeable fine tannins and a long sweet black fruit driven finish. This is surprisingly elegant and classic, not showing Gaja power and masculinity.

Still very primary, a bit harder than the '04 San Lorenzo, med. dark purple, doesn't have the telltale herbal qualities, tar and roses thing going on, but more black fruit driven. Don't have good notes, but still way too young, hold for min. another 10 years +. Yarom group outside at Locanda Veneta, and hard to evaluate as it started to really cool down.

New York Wine Experience - lots of tastings...shorter notes...: Medium red color. Black cherry, leather, baking spices. Medium/long finish. Wine is still very primary, should do well with some bottle age
Nice to meet Angelo himself at the event!
