Loads of spring mountain black fruit, smooth, somewhat polished cab. Manager at TW says 2009 is the last vintage. Seems to be on the decline, the last bottle opened 9 months ago seemed to have more punch. Drink up!

The wine looks garnet colored. The legs are slow. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like raspberry, mineral, oak and red currant. The body is light/medium. The wine has polished texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has low acidity.

Rich and delicious, full bodied. Unfortunately, we opened it during a backyard barbecue so it was paired with hot dogs, hamburgers and Doritos. Nacho Cheese Doritos can dominate a palate! Very good wine.

The CellarTracker community currently rates the 2009 Chateau Chevalier Cabernet Sauvignon as 90 points with only two ratings so far for this vintage. However, the CT community reinforces this rating with a consistent regard for previous vintages. Wine Spectator has not published a rating for the 2009 vintage, but it did rate the 2008 as 85 points. My impression falls in between the CT and WS ratings. I rate the 2009 Chateau Chevalier Cabernet Sauvignon as 88 points. It is a solid cabernet for $30 and worthy of Napa origin. It won’t blow your socks off, but it is a good holdover to avoid dipping into your more highly regarded cabs too early. The QPR is reasonable for this well rounded cabernet.
Rating Scale: Extraordinary (95-100 points); Outstanding (90-94); Very Good to Excellent (85-89); Good (80-84); Average (75-79); Below average (70-74); Avoid (50-69)

Good body and flavors, firm tannins. Might have another yr or two but is drinking now, recommend an hour of air time

Nicely structured and balanced. Not much complexity, but pleasant nonetheless. There are better QPRs out there.
