Skikkelig konsentrert i munn. Aromatisk tett og nokså tannisk. Lukter utviklet, men smaker ungt. Trenger vel en del tid.

Medium pluss intens aroma.

Even ruby, quite primary. Licorice, cut violets, and tart cherry that sweetens over time. Tight, lean, and more black fruited to start with a lovely clay base. This slowly unfolds and expands. Obviously great fruit and crystalline clarity. Not the optimal moment, but it will be wonderful with another 8 to 10 years.

Old Friends, Old Wine Weekend-Red Burgundy, Rioja, Barolo, and a Few Germans; 1/12/2018-1/14/2018 (Various Venues): Full ruby. Ripe black cherry, raspberry, and more green than I expected. Medium to full bodied for Pinot with a clay underpinning. Great depth of fruit, good acidity, round, broad tannins. Not terribly complex at this point, and quite dense and chocolatey for Chambolle, bordering on heavy handed. No question about the quality of the material, but if it is going to become more airy, it will take a good long while. It is more foursquare than grumpy right now.

Some Wines from a Swing Through France-Paris, Chablis, and Champagne; 4/1/2016-4/9/2016: Even ruby color. Pure red cherry and a touch of mint and smoke. Medium weight and alluring texture despite prominent acidity and some tannin. Nice citric twist in addition to the primary red fruit, and a long stony finish. Of course this is too young, but it is just about perfect, delicate Chambolle, the likes of which I could happily drink every day.
Deeper, more complex, and still fabulously fresh after being recorked overnight. This is quite a wine.
