Garnet color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose of rose petals, berries and wet stones. Flavors of berries, cherries and a hint of meat. Medium acidity, medium tannin, medium to full bodied. Drink over the short term.

Big nose of ripe cherries, herbs and autumn leaves. While definitely a powerful wine, definitely a restraint is shown with a nice backbone of acid that supports a very fleshy wine. Red cherries give way to ripe olives and brambles. Beautiful!

The wine was garnet colored and legs were slow with a smell like raisin and black currant. At first you can taste like raisins but with a hint of blackberry with a flint and cedar finish. The body is medium/full and a silky texture. A medium finish with a touch of acidity, which I found odd for a wine of this age. Need time to breath once you open the bottle.

Garnet to dark garnet color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose of florals, berries, cherries and a dash of white pepper. Rich flavors of berries, boysenberries and cherries. Medium to bright acidity, medium tannin, full bodied. Drink or hold.

This wine showed great character with a full fruit forward flavor with a mild tannin. It was smooth to drink with great color. Should hold for some time to come.

Holding up quite well for a 2006. though with less acidity than it initially showed. No bricking -- still medium red. No heat, which is great -- excellent balance overall and a nice mouthfeel. Nothing special, but not disappointing (i.e., overcooked) either, which says a lot given the hot vintage. Now+3 years.

Popped btl, poured off half a glass and let the rest breath in the bottle for 4 hours. The initial half glass was a bit tight and out of sorts.
After 4 hours - on the nose a nice mix of fruit and earthiness with a bright stemmy note in the background. On the palate, a similar mix. Much more open that the initial glass. Good fruit and a bit of stems all balanced out by an acidity that has started to integrate nicely. A hint of tannin on the finish. Should last another few years.

Dark ruby red. Dark cherries on the nose with some red fruit mixed in. Poured two glasses and let the bottle breathe during dinner. This showed some tart cherry on opening, but put on weight with air and showed off tremendous intensity. On the darker, richer, fruity side of Pinot Noir, but Is ultimately in balance. Tannins have softened, and this is in a great drinking window now. Long, fruity finish.
Enjoyed with almond crusted chicken and jasmine rice. For a maligned vintage, this is quite a good showing.

Gave this one a sort decant and was really glad. Started out tight, but after air this evolved into a soft beautiful wine. Cherry, vanilla and a little licorice. Paired nicely with lamb, salmon, pork shank and vegetable risotto. This should continue to age nicely for at least 3-5 years.

Consistent with previous notes though the balance of flavours is right on point and showing some great secondary characteristics. This wine is pop and pour now. This wine is coming into its peak right now, so definitely time to drink up.

Decanted 1.5 hours. Deep garnet colour with a nose showing some mushroom, sous-bois and a touch of fruit sweetness. Palate seemed to have gotten bigger from previous bottles though tannins still very much present. Secondary characteristics started to come through now as cherry and raspberry flavour moving more to pomegranite with a hint of strawberry, a touch of mint and lots of forest floor. This bottled evolved a lot from the one 3 months ago and would expect based on the structure and tannins to keep going for a long time.

PnP from 375. Medium cranberry/ruby color, about 70% saturated with very quick legs. Light nose of roasted walnuts and oak with a touch of some seaweed and saline. Not much fruit left in the bouquet but there is still a very good balance of acidity and freshness on the palate. Medium body, virtually no tannins, and a medium long finish. I'm sure it was much more attractive a year ago. Can certainly compare to many village Burgs in that it has nice flavor but it lacks concentration and complexity. I must contradict those saying it needs more time. To me, it is heading downhill and after several hours open it seemed completely dead. 5+8+15+6 = 84

Last night at Jim's this was tight and earthy and certainly not open for business. Fast forward to day 2... Nose: Some earth and funk still present but with newfound spice and some floral qualities. Palate: Spice and wonderful, floral qualities. Great medium length finish. This was quite a day 2 surprise. Jim has stated in past notes this is a 90+ point potential wine. I would say he is spot on.

Had a couple friends over who are serious wine drinkers and wanted them to try something they hadn't had - so did the impatient thing and opened another bottle. It seems this wine is exiting its dumb phase now as it was expressing much more straight out of the bottle. Still needed a good 2 hour decant though. Tasting notes are similar to previous though the colour is getting a bit softer. Would recommend anyone with this wine hold it for at least another year to really let it develop.

Seems to be in the dumb phase right now though after decating over an hour it started to open up. Started fairly deep purple and over a few hours started to go ruby at the edges. Extremely smooth, well integrated tannings and well balanced acidity. As it opened up some red fruit, minerality and earthiness on the nose. Touch of red fruit, mushroom and candied orange peel in the mouth ending with a decently long finish. Looking forward to popping another bottle of this in 12 months or so.

Not particularly interesting at this point, but I hold some hope for the future. Tasted over 3 days. Too much sweet fruit the first night, but that faded by the last night. Orange peel and spice box on the nose, plenty of acidity, bing cherry and orange and a pinch of earth on the palate.

Popped/poured. On the nose, meat, licorice, minerality and a hint of cola. On the palate - tight. and relatively ungiving with a slightly bitter clipping on the finish. Hopefully better with time. 87-89 points for current pop/pour drinking, though I do think this has 90+ potential. I would decant for 60 minutes for current drinking. Will revisit later.

Opened not decanted. Raspberry on the nose. On the palate: raspberry, cherry, wood and a touch of charcoal / smoke; the finish falls off abruptly with a short concord grape taste, but, per the wine maker, this is not meant to be a long term ager, so this is the style . Good.

Opened not decanted. Ready to drink right out of the bottle with candied red fruit with lots of rich cherry notes: bright, dark and tart. There was, however, a little thinness to the body. A great value for the money. Good to Very Good.
