The most lifted and charming wine of the flight (the hint to the terroir was here!). Beautiful aromatic complexity. Sweet cherry and mix currant, sleek earthy minerals on the palate. Incredibly perfumed and slightly stemmy. Sleek and ethereal, reminded me of Rousseau. (94/100)🥇 Guess: 2015 Gevrey Chambertin 1Er Cru Combe Aux Moine

Decanted for ~2-hrs. This seemed to have lost its youthful exuberance (the "liquorice cherry" note)... but definitely still a young/youthful wine. However, it's now more "classic Gevrey", w/ more pronounced notes of earth, rather than straight-out violets/roses which we tend to associate with young Duroches. That said, a beautiful wine of elegance & grace, medium-body, with red-fruited/cherry notes lifted by nicely balanced acidity/freshness. Interesting to see how this continues to develop with age...

Popped, and breathed from the bottle for ~2-hrs before pouring. Am surprised this still exhibited a tad of that "liquorice cherry" notes on the nose, which was quickly followed by scents of violets, and roses after some time in the glass. Red-fruited elegant/lifted palate (gaining weight as it fleshed out), with ash/earth plus a dope of minerality. Overall, an alluring drink with a not-so-long'ish finish (for now). Will be interesting to see how this develops with age...

From MAG. During a Paulee dinner so only brief impressions. Beautiful nose of forest floor, game, licorice, black berry, lots of red cherry too, drinking surprisingly well and elegant for its young age.

Dinner with the IT guys (Tung Lok Signature (Central)): I had brought this along, anticipating that the odds were high that I had to "make amends" for the prior bottle of Pinot :) Whoa, this was very pretty. Floral nose, red-cherries. On the palate, bright red fruits. The youth & density of the fruit made it come across as a bit liquer'ish, but yet, it was so fresh, so lifted, so silky & lacy. In short, so nice! The structure manifested after being in the glass for close to 2 hrs, and it started to tighten and clamped up. A keeper! Try one now if you've a few...

Seattle Chevaliers taste Chablis and Gevrey-Chambertin (Seattle, WA): Mmmm, a big blast of pine forest, perfume and umami. Wow, that is a mouthful, utterly explosive, the energy and vigor on this is just nuts. Absolutely stunning.

Y4. Needs time, but has EVH potential. All structure and beauty is already there on 8, but give it 5-10 years to go to 11. Tasting at Phenol.

another good effort.
great fruit on the palate, in particular raspberry.
fresh, already surprisingly approachable.
overall volumes down 40% for the domaine in 2012. Good news is Pierre thinks 2013 volumes should be back to normal.
