  • Sample from J. Poured into small vial 24hrs beforehand. Drank in Grassl Cru.
Appearance is clear, pale intensity, ruby colour. Legs.
Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of pretty florals, red cherry, mild licorice, minty garden herbs underlying stony mineral. Bit of darker red almost black cherry emerging. Dark cherry liqueur as it warms up. Developing.
On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium alcohol (13.5%), velvety medium+ tannins, medium+ body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of red cherries, deeper dark red cherry core, licorice, bit of mint herb ?rhubarb, rocky stony mineralic long finish.
Very good quality. Riper than expected for this elevated north facing site. Maybe another couple more years to develop more earthy notes, but otherwise seems drinking quite nicely already.

  • Ripe and painfully primary cherry a plum with a bit of oak spice and earth. Not terribly delineated on the palate with moderate persistence.
