30 min decant. Well integrated dark berries, cherry and currant with cedar and green peppers dominate. Tannins have settled. Nice smooth mouthfeel like one would expect from a bottle of this price ($75). The 11’s have been inconsistent at best but this is a good effort that is drinking great atm. Probably not worth the price but a truly delicious wine drinking at its peak. Don’t wait too long to enjoy.

while the 2011 vintage is generally nothing to write home about, the Cakebread Cabernet exceeded my expectations. I have tried a number of Cakebreads and have been underwhelmed but this one was very enjoyable. It was rich and velvety with a hint of spice. Noted of dark berries and cocoa with some pepper. Really good!

For the price not one of the best values in Cali-Cab but this was a gift bottle so perhaps my score is 1-2 points higher ;) Actually it was a really smooth wine that was not over oaked or over extracted and over time developed a nice long finish. The nose was under-whelming but overall a pretty wine that drank nicely.

Pretty fruit and a pithy profile upon entry, the finish is soft and reticent. Dark plum, mixed herbs and coffee bean. Light, gliding tannins. Pull the cork now. Drink now - 2020.

Ruby red. Tint of spices. Oddly with smell similar to Syrah (maybe coz I used same glass tasting the white ones). Typical Cali cab sau. Not much complexity. Expensive for a simple wine

Deep ruby-purple; nose has ripe plums, slight spice; palate is full body, some ripe plummy fruits but alcohol isn't out of place, fades trough midpalate; short finish. Very overpriced for the quality but enjoyable. 85

Overall, very uninspiring given the vineyard name and the price. On the plus side, it was very smooth, and the finish was a bit lengthier than expected. Good color and taste, but overall, not very rich and maybe even a tad bit flat. Decent, but not spectacular.

Fruity nose. Black fruit on the palate. Moderate acid. Relatively mild to moderate tannin. Medium to full bodied. Nice, lingering finish. Well-balanced and excellent wine, but not living up to the price, which was rather steep. Decanted for about 30 mins.

Opened this bottle with tempered expectations given the terrible reviews of the 2011 vintage. I was pleased to find this wine very approachable and balanced. Pencil shavings on the nose, cherry, herb and earth notes on the palate. Mild acidity and weaker tannins for a Cakebread cabernet. Overall, a decent (but not great bottle)

Good acidity and extraction, there is noticeable greenness in this wine, it's not terrible but really just a showcase for a vintage that had a lot of "issues". I wouldn't waste your money, luckily this was free.

after seeing the other reviews i was quite disappointed i bought 6 thru the wine club. But i guess that is what makes horse racing. it certainly needs some time, but is not in my view a mid 80's bottle. perhaps i am an easy grader but it is smooth and balanced and can only improve. i am happy i have more to drink but will wait a year.

I agree with most others. Good wine but not with the price.
Very good for the poor 2011 vintage.
Drank a magnum at our dinner party and was liked by everyone.
Will save the last magnum for a few more years. Doubt this goes anyone beyond where it is now.

Very enjoyable wine. 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Petit Verdot, 4% Cabernet Franc, 2% Petite Sirah blend. Very smooth; medium fruit and finish.

I decanted the wine for over an hour. It was delicious with our pork loin! Smooth, good balance and truly a hit at dinner. It is a bit pricey.

Dark ruby, full bodied. Spice on the nose, blackberry and slight vanilla on the tongue. Tannins still tight, but began opening up after 15-20 minutes.
