Well evolved, orange/brown rim, light garnet centre. Good nose, sweet spices, tobacco, leather, forest notes, not much fruit. On the palate soft, gentle, slightly spicy with hardly any tannins, but good freshness. Past its best, still pretty good. Drink up. 88-90

Smells of things that would delight English gentlemen of a certain age, Chesterfield lounges, pipe tobacco and leather and wooden interiors from grand marque British vehicles of a bygone era. It has a vinous sweetness that intensifies in the glass. There’s plenty of earth and a nice vein of mineral. It has good proportion and excellent balance. Thank fuck Michel Rolland wasn’t tinkering with Merlot and Cabernet Franc on the right bank of the Gironde during this period.

A bit close on the nose (nuances of strawberry and blueberry with an earthy ending), but on the palate was spectacular, with a surprising evolution of flavours in the glass and paired with food (especially with a tuna with courgette and tomato sauce pie). And I didn't find any disturbing acidity in the wine.

The cork disintegrated so it had to be pushed inside the bottle. The wine was then filtered into a decanter. On the nose it had a musty smell of damped earth. The palate however, showed rather vibrant fruit being though quite flat.Yes,this was slightly corked.I tried then the cellophane test for the first time, putting some wrapped cellophane into the decanter. The TCA aroma was clearly reduced, improving the wine, making it enjoyable.Anyway, this is still a vibrant wine that should have some years ahead.

Caroreina offered this magnum for my Birthday. Excellent Structure. Beautiful dark ruby colour, and a little browning around the edges. On the nose, leather and fruits of the forest. On the palate, blackberries, raspberries and blackcurrants, which remained for a good 20 seconds. Some acidity still there, so I believe this vintage will be good for at least two to three years.

Apart from the exessive amount of acid, this is good wine. Chocolat, coffie, good fruit. But the acid makes it less tasty.
