Needs about an hour to open up otherwise locked up tightly still. Once it does it is full of that Rocks Funk. Lots of meaty, gamey, olive tapenade overtones going on. Light on oak. Tannins are still pretty tight/refined. This will last for another fives years or more with proper cellaring.

Layers of flavors. Firm in texture, with meaty, gamy overtones to the dark fruits buried beneath. Tannins are well integrated. Enjoyed this from start to finish

Opened and drank at 6237 ft of elevation, so it emerged from its hibernation slowly, but after a couple of hours of active agitation, when it finally did emerge, nailing it as a WWV was a slam dunk. Even at that elevation, there was no mistaking its RockFunk calling card. This wine list gem paired perfectly with a cassoulet consisting of a smoky kielbasa-type sausage, duck confit, and slow roasted pork shoulder (Rendezvous Bistro, Jackson Hole). Excellent wine with plenty of time in the cellar ahead.

Walla Walla Syrah Festival "Vintage Pour" (Cavu Cellars, Walla Walla): Nice talking with Rich Funk! Very well-made wine. Tasted twice with equal impressions. White pepper, scorched earth, minerals, raspberries, Bing cherry and a nice rustic edge on the finish. Medium plus.
