Still great color and still needs time to open up. Syrah dominates. A bit lean on the fruit, which gives it a northern Rhône typicity.
(2/10/2018) So typical of the "new" Ridge style — that is, of the last 20 years — as opposed to the "old" Ridge style. The "new" style emphasizes fruit and American oak, but the two elements don't seem to come together, at least on this wine. Very respectable but certainly not in the wow category.

Drinking fantastic right now. In the best possible way, this drinks like a top class Australian shiraz, with wonderfully bright and pure currant, cherry, and black berry fruits; pretty floral notes; and a sweet lingering finish. Excellent, and promising to drink well for at least five more years, though I’d say enjoy it at this peak of pleasure and balance.

Courtesy of tlv, popped & poured. Youthful dark color. Black raspberry, white pepper, blue fruit and herb notes. Medium-bodied, with softened tannins and flavors of blue fruit and roasted game. Peppery spice in the finish and plenty of lush, exuberant fruit. Very much a complete wine and in a very good place.

Opened at Anvil. Floral notes with some red and dark fruits. First time I've tasted this since tasting it at the winery in 2014, and time has been kind. Tannins still present, but are nicely in check.

Way, way oakier than previous bottle. Perhaps I should have splash decanted, instead of slow oxidizing in bottle for 75mins and then drinking over the next two hrs? Oak was so prevalent that it was hard to smell or taste anything else. Rather maddening. My previous bottle, while primary, was much, much better.

Very enjoyable Syrah (well, 50pct Syrah, 50pct Grenache). Younger than I anticipated, visually/aromatically/palate. Primary and fruit driven. Delicious black and blue fruit. No white pepper, no meaty/bacon notes. Fine, mostly integrated tannins. Some oak is still sticking out. Lacking a touch of acidity - hence, I am unsure if this will further improve in the cellar. All in all, an enjoyable - if a bit simple - wine. I have one more bottle, which I think I will drink in a yr or two

Served with beef tenderloin, red wine pan sauce, mixed roasted vegetables. Nice clear garnet - still good color to the rim. Nose of cherry, blueberry, plum, more lurking underneath. Dry, smooth, medium body, tannins resolved, acid for balance. Fruit remains on the palate, a nice long finish. Went well with the richness of the meal.

Aroma: raspberry jam with a herbaceous note. A touch of shoe leather. Palate: plums and raspberries with some woody notes. Grippy tannins. Fairly simple; good acidity. It will be a race to see if the fruit hold out until the tannins soften. Drink or hold.

This is still coming along very nicely and in a good place right now. My vote is to drink up in the next year or two. Shows a core of black fruit with just a dash of pepper on the finish.

This is probably my favorite vintage yet of this ATP release. Deep and lush, with noticeable oak on the nose (which I don't mind). The tannins are full, but softer than the 2010 petite sirah and zinfandel bottlings from this same estate. Gorgeous wine. Too bad it's sold out.

Shows too young at first, but its oaky cloak dissipates after a bit of air, and the cherry and blueberry notes come out with some cedar cigar box. Nice on the palate, too, with a nice range of cherries and a little black currant.
This is becoming one of my favorite Ridge bottlings. Top notch and fairly priced for the third or fourth vintage in a row.

A Tasting at Ridge (Ridge Vineyards Lytton Springs Estate): Dark color. The bouquet opens with a lovely perfumed floral profile turning to white currants, cherry and eventually blue fruit. Tannins are young and firm. Red fruit and berry qualities with a bit of spice coming in on the finish. 92+ pts.

Pleasant but not something that knocks your socks off. A full-bodied red and blue fruit wine with a bit of heat.

Do not understand why this was rated so highly by others. Lacks balance. Will assume I opened it too early.

Youthful appearance. Reticent aromas. Sprightly flavors. Not super rich. Fades a bit into dusty tannins on the finish

Very average Ridge wine. Remarked to the missus that Carlisle wines are better.
