Deep dark center, red/purple rim with surprisingly little signs of age. Sweet, blackberries, ripe black plums, shiny milk chocolate, balsamic vinegar, smoke, touch of VA, creamy. Smooth, raspberries, significant acidity, bright cherries, pipe tobacco, a little sappy, good length. Excellent Carignane, drinking well now, but has the acidity to improve over the next 5 years.

Long finish.smooth, peppery, low silky tannins, fruit forward on the nose. Served with Chipotle chilli crusted fillet mignon and garlic green beans. Peppery notes teamed well with the chipotle char on the steaks.

Paired with home-made sausage pizza. Crimson/purple, still dark (but not opaque), good color. Nose: blueberry with hint of blackberry underneath. Dry, acid on the front, followed by the fruit. mouth-watering, medium weight. Decent length. Drink now.

Good drinking wine - had it by itself but would also go well with food. Very drinkable now. Nice fruity flavor - though not too fruity. Glad I have a second bottle!

With sautéed been tenderloin, roast potatoes, asparagus. Ruby/garnet, color consistent to the rim, no longer opaque. Nose has nice, appealing dark fruit (blueberry, perhaps black raspberry), quite clean. Dry, medium weight, fruit and acid in balance (mouth watering). Tannins were muted. Paired nicely with the meat.

Big dark fruit still dominates with some hints or flashes of earth and dried herbs sneaking past. This had all the acidity we needed to cut through the fat in our skirt steak carne asada and the fruit really helped with the heat from the chilies. The odd thing is, that with the high level of acidity this wine presents, tartaric acid is listed as an ingredient. Did Ridge acidulate that heavily?

Very grapey. Purple/garnet with a little foaminess--very fresh looking. Fruity with good acidity, just not a lot complexity. Worked well with grilled bison strip steak; not so appealing alone.

One of the lighter bodied wines on the table, out of 6 reds. Blue and black fruits with minimal tannin, but some nice acidic lift on the back end that had me thinking of a garden fresh tomato. I know that sounds weird, as the wine didn't taste anything like a tomato. So be it.

Great firm dark fruit with cutting acid, tight berry, smoke, coffee and earth. I really love this wine, especially with bright acidic food. Great for the price. Must buy more to have around the house. B
Aroma: Somewhat reticent nose with suggestions of roasted meat and mushrooms. Hints of dark berries and rose petal. Palate: Spicy and rich with notes of bacon and blackberry. Just a suggestion of tannic grip on the finish. Probably an early drinker. More fruit forward and less acidic than earlier vintages.

Decanted 1+ hour. Earthy nose hint of leather. Slightly acidic. Feels hot but isn't. Almost thin mouth. Sour cherries and some mineral soil. Odd tannins that roll in and out. Slightly unbalanced young wine. Needs time. Will revisit later. Wait on this one.

Rich aromas of blackberry jam, graphite and tobacco. Puckery green tannins on the palate overlaying flavors of dark berries, garrigue and tobacco. Very structured. Needs several years of bottle age to mellow those tannins, but may then develop into a very good Southern Rhône style wine.

In a good way, quite similar to a zin.
Probably past its prime, but still decent.

100%Hillside grown Carignane, Lytton Springs. 10 years is a good aging time for this but could easily go another couple years.

As it turns out this had just been shipped and arrived the day before the tasting...a case for travel shock? Or perhaps just in a dumb phase?
