Decanted for an hour and chilled slightly before drinking. Super ripe fruit and alcohol dominate this wine, not surprising at 15.2% ABV. Prune-like aromas and notes of very ripe berries, spice and noticeably high alcohol. Medium to full bodied with just enough acidity to keep it from being cloying. Medium to long finish of sweet fruit.

Juicy high alcohol zin. Bright cranberry/cherry fruit with a distinctly cherry tobacco finish. I would drink up (slightly cool) while the fruit is still very present

We opened let sit for an hour and then poured. Dark fruit on the nose, the palate is very fruit forward with dark berries, charred meat, and hints of mint. The finish is long and smooth. A really nice wine.

Pop/pour. Smooth, less acidic than the '12 Pesenti opened last night. While the Pesenti had the potential for a structure / balance that might further develop, my feeling on this wine is that it's drinking well now, with little reason for further cellaring. Rich, lush, smooth. Historically, I've enjoyed most Turleys the best after 4-5 years from vintage. This one fits that model. 92 points, but that's held back a point or two only because it lacks just the slightest bit of additional complexity that might push it further. That said, the palate is a center of the plate pitch for me re: what I'm hoping for in a Zin. For pure hedonistic enjoyment, I prefer this to the Pesenti, even though I've scored them both the same in terms of points. Galloni suggests a drinking window extending to 2027. For me, I'd drink between now and 2020.

Not as good as I had hoped. Dark ruby red in the glass. This should have been decanted for maybe a couple of hours prior to drinking as the wine seem a little disjointed and harsh. Dark bramble fruit on the nose and palate with a little vanilla and spice. Pronounced acidity and not balanced. I wish I had taken the time to decant longer as it sounds like other reviewers really liked it ... bummer.

New to tasting notes but after 25 reviews I tasted this wine over two days and for the first time can't find anything to say. Nothing jumped out either negative or positive.

Deep ruby and nicely aromatic, this Turley offering serves up aromas and flavors of dark bramble fruits, baking spices, chocolate and dried herbs. Full-bodied, freshly acidic and with substantial edgy tannins, it is layered and dense on the mid-palate. Despite being listed as 15.2%, the wine's alcohol is well-integrated, as is its oak. Lengthy but a bit chewy on the back end, this is one that will benefit from a bit more time in the cellar. Drink 2017-2020.

Decanted about 90 minutes. Dark but far from opaque. Red and blue fruits. Not overly bold or interesting. Good finish. Perhaps it needed to have some more time. Other Turley zins are much better.

Nose: aromatic, dusty, cloves, floral Palate: noticeable alcohol – 15.2%, lots of fruit, a bit wild and brambly, smooth velvety texture, some char, some coffee. Very good.

We opened this bottle to enjoy with some ribs while waiting for trick or treaters. As usual we should have opened it an hour or two earlier. The last glass was outstanding, especially with the tangy barbque sauce.

Rich with flavors of dark fruit but seemed to lack spice which made it out of character for the varietal. Tasted more like a rich pinot. I liked the wine, it just wasn't what I was expecting for a Zin.

Excellent. Spicy red fruit on the palate with lingering spice on the finish. Yet it' not coming across hot at all. The fruit is well balanced by the acidity and is not cloying. Beautifully balanced. Drink now-2017. Perfect now.

Same as last note on 1/23. No decant and as bottle #2 of the evening the heat wasn't there (paired with spicy flavorful food so that may have masked it) which was awesome. A shame this was the last of 2 bottles. Hopeful to pick up some more with '13 release.

Medium ruby color. Vanilla bean & raspberry compote on aromatic nose. Medium sweet with fresh acidity. Medium, round tannins. Red raspberry, rhubarb, fresh dried herbs with hint of caramel on mid-palate. Syrah like finish of raw NY strip with black tea notes. Drinking fantastic now and should improve over 2-3 years.

Liked the stewed fruits, tea notes and baking spices with a hint of lavender. Tannins are so subtle its great but the alcohol is pronounced as this took on air.

Bright red/ruby. Medium body with well-defined berry aromas. Tannins are a bit strong now, but are well-balanced. Needs a couple years to integrate more... but will be very good indeed.
