Pnp. Ripe fruit and a touch of oaky on the nose. Medium in body. Dark fruit, black cherry, light tannins at this point. I will see how it evolves in next few years.

Pretty much consistent with my previous taste note of this wine posted earlier this year (2/26/23) in terms of its appearance and flavor components. But in terms of its bouquet and finish it seemed like the wine has evolved and shown significant improved over the past several months. The nose has become a lot more generous and nuanced while the finish has become slightly fuller and more expressive with delightful notes of cedary oak, brambly undergrowths, loamy mineral and delightful tannic presence towards the medium finish. These marked improvements merits a slight increment in the rating. Day 2: Drinking much better and much more integrated than the previous day. I’m really getting into this. 88 - 90

Cat Island with Greg, Maria, and my beautiful bride Angie. Hue is opaque, color is dark garnet and ruby with hints of dark orange on the meniscus. Aromas are smoke, floral notes, and fig. Taste is blackberry, soy, graphite, wet stone, leathery notes, tobacco, black licorice, and some notable saliniity. This finished quite dry and lenght of finish was over 45 seconds and nice earthy complexity.

Clear dark ruby with a thin meniscus. The nose is rather ungenerous (even after 3 hours of aeration) but what was revealed is essentially matured red and black fruits, dried leaves, fennel stem, black tea, loamy earth, cedar and oak. The palate is dry, medium-bodied, well structure, medium intensity, fairly well-balanced with very fine yet grainy tannins but ends with a rather bland and unremarkably weak finish. The flavor components in this St. Julien includes dark cherry, cassis, loam, hint of dried fennel and coriander seed-like herbs, moderate tobacco, black tea leave extracts and good amount cedar. A simple but well-made wine. A good effort on a subpar year in Bordeaux. 85-87

Wow! So good. Supposedly an off vintage? I tasted this before and prior bottles had some oak and tannin but this bottle is a perfect example of a mature Gloria. Awesome right of the gate. Sipping over a couple days so will add notes here. Only have one left which is too bad. Could improve but just a lovely st julien at the price point. 91+

My worst experience with bordeaux blend. Too light and weak in nose. Felt like a hotdog with sausage taken off. It was not a good year for bordeaux but didn’t expect this bad. Mid tannin, texture was nice but that’s all. Maybe there’s possibility that the bottle was flawed, looking at the other reviews, which are quite different from my impression

On sale at Red Apron in Saigon. This is a treat here in Vietnam. A luxury wine here due to tax. Weighs in at about 75$USD on sale. Gem like qualities at the edge of the glass and then darker. Not extracted. The nose is ..... well.... French. Can get he SJ notes here and grape varietal. Lovely Balanced wine, loads life in this. Maybe a bit bright. Needs some food for sure. Excellent refined mouthfeel, fruit is a bit restrained, then the acids, tannins, wood still.

Dark in color. Rather powerful on the nose. A bit dry and square on the palate with potent dark fruit oak and spicy backdrop. Long tannic finish. I like it and if some of the edges will go with age it will be a great value in a few years, if not still a decent value wine. Could be worth a bet on a tough year.

Mid red. On opening there was a distinct whiff of cork taint and while this cleared a bit with air I won’t score the wine on that basis, and my comments are subject to that. There is a distinct impression of quite ripe fruit- more in the realm of cassis, black currant liqueur (quite surprising given the cold, relatively wet vintage). Not bad, and I suspect without the scalping affect of the TCA it could show well and be ready to drink now.

Well made wine. Poor vintage but still the wine is balanced. Fruit can appear subdued at times as the nose screams of cocoa, cedar and coffee. Nice fruit on the palate and tannins are still prominent. Overall a descent wine but will be better in a few years. Ideally, should be paired with food.

UCGB tasting Bordeaux 2013 (Amsterdam): There are good dark berries, a touch of sweetness and also green impressions. Ok acidity and sticky tannin. 87 for today. Maybe 88 around 2020.

Dark red berries, espresso and fennel add some complexity to this soft, forward wine. Showcasing cherry, earth and licorice, this wine was successful for the vintage. 88-89 Pts

Nose: dusty cocoa powder. Palate: bergamot, plum.
Come on, it's good shit.

This is a classic food wine - good effort for the year, but not a stand alone offering
Earthy fruity nose, persistent tannins
