Did a comparison of the 2009 and the 2014. The 2009 seemed plodding next to the more vibrant 2014. What's interesting is that the 2014 is supposed to start drinking in 2022. It was delightful tonight. Full, lush, great flavor profile. See that note.

Keeps getting better. Full bodied, well integrated. Delicious with food. Lots of dark bottom, complemented by vibrant dark and red fruit. Spice edges in. Delicious wine.

PnP'd with Beechler and 7 friends. It might be a little offputting right out of the bottle, but after 20 minutes of being open it settles down into a first-rate full bodied experience.

Excellent wine right in the prime for drinking now. Really liked the "cigar box" nose and interesting mouthfeel (good). Paired great with chicken fajitas (luckily). Fab QPR

This was a pretty unpleasant bottle. Did not finish it. I do not even know how to rate it. Don't usually encounter this quality of wine posing as a 92 on the "Wine Advocate".
This was a great wine and I will buy this again. Truthfully the WA tasting note was spot on, great cedar box, brooding red flavors and plenty of depth for the price. This wine is still tight. Not sure how long it will age [another 3-5 for sure] but I really enjoyed this wine after 2 hours in a big decanter.

accessed via coravin...deep dark violet color...brooding nose of black fruit, toasted cedar, fresh tobacco and spice...vibrant black fruits on entry with a lightness not expected from nose...very young through the mid-palate with acidity and tannins a bit out of balance...expect this will loosen up with a few hours in the decanter and age quite well...not a typical old world rioja but more interesting than ardanzas...great QPR

Great wine. Worked amazingly well with a peanut-curry chicken dinner.

Full bodied, lots of fruit and balanced tannins. This is an assertive wine, and it worked wonderfully complementing cheese and other appetizers.

Juicy, jammy, quaffing wine. A fine choice for opening an evening.

My go-to wine to bring to other's houses. Big, bold, fruity. Works with food or on its own. Occasionally some say it's too forward. Took to D&M's.

Brought to a dinner party that featured a sauerkraut and banana casserole. (It's a Dutch specialty.) It went well. <eyeroll>

Lovely bottle as usual. With D&M over for dinner. This was with the cheese course.

Same assertive nose, not wholly typical of Rioja. I think this is a great food wine.

Loads of tart cranberry flavor upon opening. Given time to warm up and breathe, the balance is much more present with even a bit of caramel flavor.
