Really amazing. Can't believe I'm saying this. Bright red cherry with matching acidity. Dry and gripping tannins. Did not expect this to be such a big wine. Secondary flavors of leather, tobacco, and dry earth are also present. Ready to drink now, but you are ok to wait due to the acid and tannins.
Was extremely surprised how well this was drinking. The cork was about 90% but no signs of seepage. Not much nose left but the taste was excellent. Sour cherries and surprisingly long finish. Only thing that keeps this from hitting 90 is the tartness was a little more than I would have liked. Overall very happy to see how well a 25 year old wine held up.

Seepage thru 3/4 of cork, but the wine didn't taste oxidized. I don't know how to describe the nose except "old" and musty, but in no way unpleasant. The only fruit was in the finish, and it tastes past its prime and a little flat, but still quite drinkable. Leather, menthol, medium-to-light bodied. Not bad for 25 years old, but not earth-shaking either.

Dark red, little bricking...bright cherry one-note nose. Amazing balance, no harshness or even fineness to tannins or acidity, beautiful mouthfeel. Bright cherry flavors, again a bit one note, with some leather and smoke on the back palate. A weird menthol heat on the finish, but I'm not used to wines this old...no clue what that was. This was an amazing wine...far better than I expected for the age.

this bottle is not oxidized like the first one. cork in good shape. dark violet in color. nose has stoney, brick-like aroma with little fruit evident. dark fruits come through on the palate though. tannins are barely evident but soft if a little chewy. long finish. i'm pleasantly surprised by this bottle, which has held up quite well.

dark red with a little bricking. Oxidized, but still good. Dark wood, blueberry pulp, red berries, touch of raisin. very past prime. a little too flabby and low structure to go this long.

It was a goner. Excellent provenance though. This had just given up the ghost.

light brick in color. berry, earth, faint cigar box, on the nose. blackberry, tobacco, on the palate. mild acid, slight tannins, on the finish.

The Raymond was by far my WOTN. It showed impressive structure and drank rather young, showing capsicum tobacco leaf, and wet earth.

a bit flat compared to the '89 and '86. cherries, leather, a simple clean drink with tannins resolved. no fruit whatsoever.

Goodness I love aged cabs. Definitely past its peak, but still delicious -- soft, secondary flavors, wonderful wine.
