  • Wine and BBQ Dinner (At home in leafy West London): Dark colour for a rosé champagne - read somewhere that this drinks more like a fizzy red burgundy and i get the point. Really delicious but I think a bit hard to fully comprehend - tasting it like a champagne isn't quite right, but neither is tasting it like a light red wine. Among the embarrassment of riches that we drank that night this is the one I'd love to be able to revisit in a more contemplative mode.

  • Disgorged February 2014, 3.5 g/L dosage. A distinctly herbal nose, this is a wine that is clearly on the leaner side of things. Good acidity and brightness but lacking body and richness. Refreshing enough, but a little too light overall on the palate. This is one of those champagnes that I'd hope to be able to call a rose if it were served in a black glass.

  • Bubbleclub--March 2022 (all wines served blind): Disgorged February 2014 with 3.5 grams of dosage. 55% PN / 45% Chard. The color on this is a darker ruby, reminiscent of the previous bottles we have opened. Red fruits, lightly jammy. I used to buy this wine but I just didn't believe the pricing was aligned well with what was under the cork. This is good but it never seems to wow me.

  • Jacquesson Night (Canard and Willamette Wine Storage, Portland OR): Nose: The nose was lifted, complex, and highly aromatic from the get go as it quickly fills up the glass with tones of red cherries, strawberries, rose petals, nougat, orange peels, meyer lemons, apples, bosc pears, toast, biscuits, baking spices, and warm pastry notes.

Taste: The feel is Medium bodied with racy, high acidity. The acidity still has some punch while the feel is elegant and poised with tones of red cherries, strawberries, rose petals, orange peels, apples, bosc pears, nougat, toast, baking spices, and warm pastry notes.

Overall: This was gorgeous immediately and it really kept blossoming with air. This was a great end to the tasting and yet another treat as I don't come across the Jacquesson Rose all too often.

  • Lovely orange/ red colour. Beautiful mousse. Was steely dry. Fruit was cherry, orange zest, but disconnect between what I was expecting from colour and amount of fruit it gave on the palate. Not a long finish.

  • Excellent. Soft pleasant fruit. Tiny bubbles. Just a hint of citrus and bread. Wish I had more.

  • Very well integrated, nice red fruit, darker than usual for a rosé. I feel it lacked a bit of backbone, just didn't really show the acid that characterizes 08. I like Jacquesson in general but don't feel this wine justifies the price tag. I have several more and hope it gains a bit of complexity with time.

  • I loved this. Some have said it is a bit over the top, some found it a bit one dimensional. I do not agree. This is a very well made champagne. Almost red, but nose and palate is filled with fragile red and yellow fruits, smoke and mineral backbone. This is excellent and I would even say no rush! 92-93

  • About a year since my previous bottle. Disgorged 02/2014, 3.5 g/l dosage, 100% PN. Has the same ruby/pink color as the last bottle, one of the darker Rose champagnes I can recall. Watermelon, cherry but more soft in tone and lacking for me some complexity, the spine I was looking for. I have 2 more of these on futures and I wonder whether I will like the remaining two that are enroute? Not a bad wine, but lacking energy that I wanted.

  • "Casual" Weeknight at Viet's: Served blind.

The nose was somewhat muted, but the palate really gave way to high tones red fruits, especially cherries. It was also a bit savory, reminding me of a Mousse, but with a more structured and dense body. Chalky, lean, nice acidity, and just a delicious wine!

  • Helblint. BYOB Mö-Gbg Roséflight i bonusformat

    Djupt nästan sagne-rosé-färgad

    Doftar gamla tiders mörkröda jordgubbar

Smakar som om mogen rabarber möter jordgubbar - utan tillsatt socker. Hög syra, lite blodgrape och lite bitter.

    89++

  • 22 Top Flight Champagne's for E&R's 20th Anniversary (E&R Wine Shop, Portland OR): Elegant, beautiful aroma. Absolutely stunning with wonderful depth. Soft, pretty, elegant attack on the palate. It's so soft and pretty, and more mellow than the nose would imply, yet there's something about its pure, soft confidence which is beguiling. Rich, soft and pretty elegance on the smooth, tart, sweet finish. The length goes on for quite some time, and again, this expresses quite a bit of confidence for this level. The QPR king of the night!

  • An ok wine, with a nose of red berries, and strong acidity on the finish. Can’t help but feel it’s missing something in the middle as it comes off a bit disjointed.

  • Sunday blinds (Chicago, IL): Disgorged February 2014, 3.5 g/L dosage. Reminds me of the Laval that I had yesterday, which is, in my view, not a good thing. Lean, tart, and chalky, with some sour red fruits on the palate. Needs some body.

  • Fantastisk farge. Skarpe røde bær, tanniner. Syre og frukt spiller på lag. Bitter finish som krever mat.

  • More red then pink. Intense, ripe berry nose, surprisingly one dimensional at this point. Sweet raspberry flavours and a semi sweet finish. Not enough acid to match the ripeness.

  • Oenocosmos Wine Fair (Intercontinental Hotel): The intensit is higher, ripe red fruit, cherry and strawberry, there is a thick oak frame here, strange with a touch of alcohol

  • (Disg. 02/2014, dos. 3,5 gr). My 2nd bottle (1st: 19/08/16), this time with tacos. Again fresh raspberries, hints of wild strawberries and watermelon on the nose. Palate follows same profile, perhaps a bit more candied with time. Notes of cherries and orange zest towards the finish. I cannot entirely get my head around this one - but I like it. Btw - worked just fine with the tacos... I will leave my last bottle for some years. Still between 91-92p.

  • First bottle of two that I bought. Man, this is good. Leaner toned and racy. Within about an hour, this became pretty still and the mousse was gone, leaving behind a beautiful pinot noir flavored wine of red fruits, with a light weight, balanced and just lovely. The acidity is here, but it doesn't overtake things, instead enhances the fruit quality. Excellent!

  • (Disgorged in February 2014, dosage 3,5 gr/L, 100% pinot noir) Very dark red colour with a stream of fine and tiny bubbles. Nose showing red berries, minerals and sulphur in a youthful way. Lovely round palate showing lots of red berries, oak and with a nice structured finish with fresh bitterness from cherry stones. This is a very vinous rosé champagne that should match many different types of food. Ready to drink now, but will definitely reward extra cellaring.

  • I agree with others that the first 'eye capturing' is that it is a dark rose. More berries (Abit sweeter) on the nose and palate. Medium plus finish. There is a raspberries/strawberries freshness on the initial taste, as others have noted. imho, it balances and allows the secondary tastes to develop within about 30-60 minutes. Long stable bubbles. Nice minerals on the palate. I noticed that the vote of the bottle in a 9 wines line was pretty clear. It was the first rose (and first wine) to be finished. Can also accommodate a full meal (if it holds until the main dish is served). Great companion to few cabs as well :-)

Bottom line: If you have few, its worth opening one already and getting the initial taste. Otherwise, let it age another year or so for more enjoyment.

  • (Disg. 02/2014, dos. 3,5 gr). Wife wanted red while I was craving for a champers, so thought of this one (which I have never tasted before). Intense and deep colour. Captivating. On first whiff, senses told me red Burgundy. Fresh raspberries and strawberries dominate, then some watermelon and crushed stones. With time, I got more of a tutti-frutti sensation. On first sip I first thought saignée (which it is not, of course). Quite broad and intense in the mouth, adding cherries, oranges and some zest. Energetic and refreshing. Good backbone – the acidity is perhaps not entirely in sync but nothing disturbing. Structured and gripping through curve from extra brut combined with notable tannins. Finishes quite long. You definitely feel a sense of both the place and the winemaker here, me think. Quite something. Will be interesting to follow this one. 91-92p for now (though perhaps 94 on my excitement scale…).

  • Initially surprisingly anonymous for a wine with such a distinctive color. Opened up after a while, but was quite subtle. Very interesting and different to what I have tried before: intense berries and yeast, a bit of tannin, quite high acidity and persistence on the palate. No sweet, floral, light notes of normal rose. Though initially a bit disappointing, this was very unique in how far towards red burgundy it has been pushed. I expected it to be more expressive, which might happen with age, but the personality is worth acknowledging. A very intellectual wine, but one that is definitely worth the experience. Will open the next bottle in a couple of years time.

  • Dark cherry red-rose color; Sour cherry, red-currant, even a light tart strawberry note, and yeasty bread notes with a tart citric lime nuance; Stony minerality on the palate with super dry mouth, sharp high acid, very fine persistent bubbles on the palate (although looked flat after 3 minutes! Dry, elegant ethereal finish. Let sit in the glass for at least an hour, and still very strong and getting better. This probably would benefit from 3-5 years in the cellar, if not more. Intriguing wine, very intellectual, love the heavy yeasty notes and finesse, but not very accessible IMHO. 91-93. Destemming, free-run only-saignee, short maceration, old oak vinification, battonage, low doseage.

  • Pink in color. One would think it is a signee Rosé (See picture). Nose shows raspberry, fine bread notes and hints of crushed limestone. Very precise fruit, dry, hard acidity and not yet in balance. I expected more from this wine but maybe it is just too young. At this price range I rather go with a big house like Bollinger GA Rose (NB, I am a HUGE Jacquesson fan). Wait 2 more years

  • Drank it from the cellar of the Chiquets. Fresh and powerful Rose with a lot of elegance, Red fruits in the nose and palate. Middle length maceration. Will come out in autumn. The tannins are soft, nice acidity, needs time this beautiful 2008.
