My last bottle. So delicious. Nose has lovely petrol notes with white flowers. Palate has crisp acidity with enough sugar to round out the dryness. Drinking beautifully now but can easily go 10+ years. Fantastic.

Light yellow with floral and citrus notes on the nose. Zingy acidity and a nice long clean finish. An excellent, really well balanced Rielsing. This can be cellared a long time depending upon how you like your wine. Great stuff.

Weinbach Grand Cru Schlossberg Cuvée Ste Catherine 2013 Riesling: Nicely scented, beautifully textured, excellent balance of richness and acidity, bright flavors redolent of stone fruits, citrus zest, and candle wax, followed by an appealing mineral tang; a drop-dead gorgeous Alsatian Riesling.

Tasted at the Salon Millesimes d'Alsace held once every two years in Colmar and presented by Enrico Bernardo, sommelier of the year in 2004. Sadly Laurence Faller passed away this year, she was a great winemaker and a great person. In later vintages, it has been said that she had made wines with more precision and less richness. This 2013 certainly conveys much precision and the usual delicate elegance one expects from this wine made from 65-year-old vines grown half way on the Schlossberg slope (the first Alsacian soil classified as a Grand Cru under the 1975 classification) with soils rich in granite. Beautiful freshness in a brilliant very youthful as expected yellow green color. Even if nose is closed at this stage, emerging white flower, acacia, lime citrus, apple and salty minerality. Brisk and fresh yet rich on the palate. I am going to buy some of this and you should too :-).

opened by mistake; at least 3-4 years too soon. All the pieces are here, this is lovely, but too tight and timid just now. HOLD. recommended
PnP, served non-blind.
