  • Deep garnet.
Sweet liquorice, blackberries, black cherries nose & palate.
Some cedar & raisins on the palate.
Medium/ full bodied, beautifully balanced, long finish.
    Drinking very well.
I bought this in a charity auction in 2020 and having opened/tasted it thought I would buy some. Unfortunately can’t find any in the UK.

  • Brought out to celibrate my last day at my work (funny because freedom is exactly what I feel drinking this).

Oh my what a nose. Candy rain. So much eucalyptos, raspberry jam, cinnamon, black berries and bacon.

Fizzy, zingy acid with animal fat and forest fruit. Very good grip and still some gripping tannins. Heavy, complex and powerful. Juicy as hell.

My wife screamed out "wow, this is fizzy alright". Like coca cola on steroids.

  • This a very nice wine. Balance, fruit, aging tones, tanins, acidiy, ... - a very nice harmony in nose and mouth. Gentle shiraz fruit with hints of fine grained black pepper, dark chocolate (no bitterness), ... Worth the money? My answer is YES.

  • Flagship vine vintage 2012 from SA Barossa house Langmeil.
    100% Shiraz, 48m french oak (69% new, 31% old)
Primary aromas dominating the nose with blackcurrant being the most prominent. Oaky aromas are also heavily present, cedar, smoke, vanilla and then a hint of animalistic and lactic notes.
Full body. Fruity attack with heavy alcohol notes and strong but velvety-feel like tannins. A fresh acidity tries to even out the balance.
    Palate as nose.
Ok length finish that lacks profile and further complexity.

  • As I unscrew the screw cap on this overly heavy bottle and pour myself a first taste, it's like a whole world of complex, fruity aromas rise in the glass, even from just a tiny pour. Amazing intensity in the aromas; full of chocolate, blackberries, kirsch, smoky, some minty high notes as well. On the palate its velvety and luxurious in texture, and the slight sweetness from the exuberant berries is also balanced with high acidity. More sweet&sour shiraz than northern rhone tar&bloody beef, but oh, so very delish. Great now, great life ahead.

  • Again wonderfully complex and layered - spices, wood smoke, dark fruit, slightly floral. On the palate expressive and rich, but beautifully balanced with ripe tannins and very good acidity. Generous and persistent finish. Quite spicy. 94-95+

  • A producer claiming to have the oldest Shiraz vines in Australia. Soft and tender, great balance given the limited maturity. Great QPR, no problems blending in tonight's lineup with several iconic wines at quadruple price points. Pepper, roses, plums and some meaty notes on the nose. Rich and powerful mouthfeel, high fruit concentration, violet, cassis, lots of heat but still under control. Great BBQ wine with some elegance.

  • Beautifully integrated and balanced wine. Difficult to believe it is only 5 years old and no reason to believe it won't be just as good 10 years from now.

  • Only from memory, tasted at a birthday party. Restraint power and great elegance. The wine is rich but not heavy, not shouting, in perfect balance. Beautiful polished colour. Calm power. Great.

  • Charred wood, smoke, bacon, cherries, plums, floral notes on the nose. Great depth and complexity. On the palate concentrated and big, but well balanced with great acidity, generously sweet mid palate, round tannins. Very long. Hold. 93-94+

  • Nasty smell. Gym socks soaked in petrol. Others loved it. Maybe they loved gym class. Or petrol.

  • Made with the fruit sourced from possibly the oldest vines in existence. Aged for 24 months in French oak barrels (70% new). 14,6% alcohol, 6,7 g/l acidity, pH 3,43.

Very slightly translucent black cherry color. Very powerful and concentrated nose with opulent aromas of smoke, spicy oak, ripe dark fruits, some sweet and almost jammy blackberries, a little bit of eucalyptus, a hint of blackcurrant marmalade and a touch of sweet caramel oak. The wine is full-bodied, powerful and very concentrated on the palate with opulent flavors of jammy fark berries, some chocolatey new oak, light earthy tones, a little bit of gravelly minerality and a hint of toasty woody character. The mouthfeel is silky smooth, but the moderately high acidity keeps the wine quite firm and balanced. The tannins feel very ripe and mellow. The finish is dry, firm and savory with moderate alcohol warmth and noticeably less sweetness than on the midpalate. There are savory flavors of woody oak, fresh brambly blackberries, some extracted oaky bitterness, a little bit of juicy dark plums and a hint of eucalyptus.

A very powerful, concentrated and voluptuous super-Shiraz with a lot of fruit, a lot of weight, a lot of power and a lot of alcohol. Quite impressive in its own right and showing some serious sense of concentration, but overall the wine feels a bit too overdone, too ripe and - most of all - too oaky for my taste. I really don't mind the level of concentration here, but the heavy-handed oaking and the lack of tannic structure to balance out some of the weight from the concentrated fruit bugs me a bit. It's good, but it could be a lot better. Not really my kind of wine.

  • Check-up on Australia with Tim Wildman, MW (Adelaide/Barossa): This is from vines that are all older than 125 years. Medium-dark purple. Discrete nose of dark fruit (darker than the orphan) with cassis and eucalyptus. Medium bodied with tight tannins. Very long aromatics on the mid palate, tannins could be softer here as well, preventing a higher note at the moment. 93+

  • They believe this is the oldest surviving Shiraz vineyard in the world.

Now this smells like new oak to me. And tastes like it as well. But still holds to the wineries style of lean and pure on the palate with a lengthy finish.

Ok, maybe not all oak on the nose.
