90 min decant. Lots of savory flavors in this wine; Rocks Funk, iodine, grilled beef, blood, seaweed and black pepper. The blackberry fruit is hiding behind all of that savoriness, and even on day 2 wasn't really showing up to the party. I also felt this bottle in particular was a bit flabby on the midpalate. I don't know if it's going through a dumb phase or just on the decline at age 10, but I'd recommend drinking these near-term if you have them. Drink now - 2027.

A lot of the best Cayuse wines have that focus and intensity that makes them great. This particular bottle, while very good, was a little flabby and losing that intensity. Drink over the next 1-2 years.

My experience with No Girls has been somewhat hit and miss. This one is a definite hit. Robust, strong blackberry flavors, smoke, tobacco and forest floor on the nose.

PnP, this needs some time to open up. once it hit it full stride it was amazing, rocks Syrah at its best. One note: this is definitely a food wine, food will bring out the best of the rock's characteristics.

As with the Cayuse, I'm finding that this style is not really my cup of tea. Complex? - yes. Lots of interesting aromatic notes to ponder - olive, tar, earth, licorice. However there is always a little baby poopie diaper that I just cannot get past. Palate is medium and somehow a little hard. long finish but I'm not sure that's what I want. So yes...complex but I can have about one glass before I'm ready to move on. Sorry if others disagree.
I wish I had the experience everyone else had. Decanted over 3 hours and drank w/o food then paired with Santa Maria Trí tip. Lackluster and disappointing both ways. No bacon fat, no typical Syrah, minimal terroir as cited in TN. Only manure. 2010 Le Cigar Volant drank in parallel blew No Girls off the table and to the dog. My dog likes to eat poop, and he seemed to approve of this wine.
PS, tired to drink remainder of 3 days, manure leaned out, but still poop.
Blood red, purple tint. I let decant for about 2 hours. Rich & meaty nose - beef jerky, mushrooms, dark chocolate, black cherry, dried green herbs. The palate takes you for a ride - a sharp acidity of extended length brings unripe strawberry, raspberry followed by a charred beef, salt, bloody midpalate and then some very sharp, bitter tanins. I have about 1/3 of the bottle I’ll try tomorrow as someone suggested. While I don’t doubt it’s a great wine to some and I’m happy to have tried it I’m not sure it’s high on the revisit list for me.

Popped and then let sit in the glass for 30 minutes. Dynamite nose! These No Girls wines are always loaded with anything and everything you want to smell. I could just swirl and sniff, swirl and sniff and be completely content. Soy, dried mushroom, blood, earth, iron, and even a touch of fruit. Unfortunately with this vintage (perfect growing conditions), the palate is just too loaded with everything and that detracts a bit from the experience. Give this wine another 5 years to settle and it's going to be spectacular. 93pts.

PnP. What a palate crusher. Smoky, raw meat, funkadelic. Too much, just over the top. Almost like a razor blade to your tongue. Put it back in the cellar to try the next night.
The next night it was much mellower and ejpnjoyable. Still funky and meaty but the harshness had faded.
I recommend a four hour decant if you want to enjoy it. Not really sure if I like it or not. In a way it is good, but I would not buy it again, at least not for the price.

Upon opening there was quite a bit of pot roast and salinity on the nose. This mellowed out a bit and "sweetened" after a couple hours in the decanter. The beef transitioned to Serrano ham both in flavor and its slightly briney, saline finish. While consistently well made, I think I've concluded that this syrah is on the lighter side of what I ultimately prefer.

smoky, meaty, some minerality. decent but either drank too young or not that special. I did not have the experience other tasters noted. Drank with Mike and Brad.

Big and balanced. More "California" than any other Baron wine I've tried, with more Vanilla oak and less "funk" than he typically brings, but still fab. Had it with BBQ (slightly chilled) and it rocked.

Decanted for about 3 hours in a very wide bottomed decanter. On the pop this was hugely reductive. Lots of sulfur coming through on the nose...we attempted to get it to blow off with the long decant and were mostly successful. Lots of barnyard funk, but still notes of sulfur at hour 3+. Very nice raspberry and cranberry fruit, slight vanilla sweetness, and notes of espresso on the finish. I didn't stay to see the bottle finished, but hope it kept improving with additional air. Drink 2018-2028.

Drank alongside the 2013 Horsepower Tribe Vineyard. The Horsepower dramatically overpowered this wine, which doesn't mean this isn't good. it's good. But it seemed like about 90% of a Cayuse Cailloux vineyard and without quite as much polish. Still - pleasant and enjoyable but, all in all, not worth the price.

Really coming together with age. Musky funky but in the background, fresh fruits, pepper, picked notes, uplifting nose with that beautiful saline mouth feel that presents weight but never exhausts the palate.

Double-blind Rhone tasting. The first animalic (stable full of well-lathered horses) whiff put my mind to my childhood memories at my grandparents' ranch...and in the wine world, straight to Horsepower Vineyards. Along with the veritable horse stable, the wine features tremendous poise and a powerful frame, draped with substantive depth (fruit, peppercorns, herbs, earth, and minerals). The most appealing of the No Girls wines that my friend Bajayngo has poured, to whom I owe many thanks! 96-97.

if aromas could be juicy and delicious then that would explain the nose, the wine itself is juicy, with a palate showing cranberry, cherry, plums, mineral and raspberry, some smoke hints as well, complex, intense yet feathery, feminine and elegant, this is a beauty, cool syrah with fine tannins

Modern nose, still has Cayuse funk but toned down. Less earthy and funky than the Cayuse En Chamberlin. Bright red raspberry. Chocolate. Less tannic. Well integrated. Great fruit core.

Opened this after the 2012 Reyvaan Foothills Reserve - this seemed superior, with more depth and complexity. Easy to drink now, but should age effortlessly. Liked AACollection's tasting note so will not repeat......
Drinking beautifully now with musk, cherries, veggies, green stemmy tannins, olive and brine and umami for days. One time I will hold a bottle to see how they age but so hard since they drink well young.

Decanted and gave this 2 hrs slow-ox in a wide-bottom decanter. The tasting pour was promising, but at this age, these wines always need air. Wow: great nose with charcoal, camphor, black raspberry, olive brine, crushed rocks... just beautiful. Very soft on the palate, with a slightly buttery creamy texture. Loads of sour cherry and raspberry, together with a touch of charcoal, and crushed black pepper. Soft tannic finish.
Paired perfectly with rib-eye with peppercorn sauce (the spice in the sauce played very well with the spice in the wine). I would love to see this more bottle age. Probably my favorite No Girls wine so far.
Day 2: Left about a half-bottle on the counter overnight (unrefrigerated) and this has only improved. Beautiful minerality on the nose now; sitll showing charcoal, a touch of iron, loads of dark raspberry, violets, roast meat. On the palate, acidity more pronounced than yesterday; shows more iron ore, cured meat, bacon fat and some sour cherry/red raspberry. A touch of tannin on the long finish. Now definitely my favorite no girls wine so far.

Got on the list this year and thought I'd give one a try. On night one, right after opening it felt a tad disjointed with its various components sticking out but on night two it had settled down and was extremely enjoyable with notes of red fruits, meat and olives. I'm not sure I'd mistake it for a Northern Rhone, the acidity is not quite as prominent and its a bit more concentrated but it still manages to keep its balance well and is nicely proportioned.
