Opened by Allred. This finished tied for 4th in our blind tasting of 8 wines. I previously had the 2011 vintage of this wine. This is normally a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah and Cabernet Franc. The Syrah made this stand out a little from the other wines. Notes of charcoal, leather and a lower fruit profile. 90 points.

Cab Showdown: Michigan v West Coast (Chateau Vino Me): Blind. Dark crimson red. Aromas of black fruit, herbs, cedar and spice. Develops a subtle herbal note with air. Full-bodied and integrated, with flavors of candied red and dark fruit, sandalwood and Asian spice.Finishes with good length. This had been double decanted three & a half+ hours earlier. Easy to pick out as non-MI.

Loads of black currant, cedar and leather with a nice underlying earthy note. On the lighter side of medium-bodied. Mixed red and black fruit flavors with dried herb flavors as well. Absolutely delightful.

Kinda amazingly you can pull apart exactly what each grape is doing in the blend both in terms of smell and taste. Besides that, there is some green earthiness going on here along with red mountain fruit character. Drinking great right now, light 'em up.

Had two bottles and both we "Identical". Heavy blue and red fruits with A hefty middle of the fruit along with a bit of acid and a moderate amount but relatively light tannin on the finish

Quite nice, good notes of cigar, cedar, spice, clove, earth, leather, prune, blackcurrant. If there were more acid and stiffer tannins this might just be mistaken for a ripe vintage Bordeaux.

Enjoyed over 3 nights - held up well on night 3 - clearly driven more to the old world than Modern spectrum. I'll buy some more and write a formal note - will buy again. 90++

Great acidity and nice red fruit. Well structured medium bodied wine. Paired nicely with a grilled skirt steak. High quality for the price and drinking nicely.

This opaque ruby wine is a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Merlot, 8% Syrah, 4% Cabernet Franc and 2% Malbec. Sourced from five different vineyards within the Red Mountain appellation, it spent 11 months in oak (60% American, 33% French and 7% Hungarian; 70% neutral and 30% new). Effusive of black currants, menthol and earthy dark cherries, it is a medium-bodied offering with fresh acidity, well-integrated alcohol (13.5%), generous sweet tannins and nicely assimilated oak. Dense on the mid-palate and closing with medium length, this is another quality product from Washington State. Enjoy it over the next several years. Drink now-2023.

Perfectly average vintage. '13 warmer and then '14 warmer and '15 record heat. Tarter cranberry high notes and green. Not in a bad way. With some harder edges tannins on the back end. But in a good way, just needs time. Almost a touch medicinal funk but maybe a day open?

Double blind. Opens with dark fruit and plum quaities with a wonderful earthy overtone. This immediately stands out from the others in the lineup. Flavors of dark fruit, tobacco and earth and perhaps even a hint of iodine. Long finish. At first I thought this may have been a Bordeaux ringer, but the fruit is definitely new world. Excellent.

Aromas of herb, cedar, mushroom, anise and cherry are reserved on this Cabernet Sauvignon-dominant blend. It's supple in feel, with well-balanced dark-fruit flavors and tart acidity that draws out the finish.

CBCC fall wine tasting event featuring 44 wines total.
This wine had a clove aromatics at the start with flavors of a variety of spice & pepper. Finish is all Syrah grapes with the dominant flavor being ripe prunes with a spicy kick.

So had this as the final some extra bottles I pulled from my cellar for wrapping up a dinner at my place. Amongst others we have had both the Branaire-Ducru 04 og the Dom de Chevalier 04 prior to the Red Mountain, and this one did not stand back for those two at all. Would be silly of me to rate though.

Youthful nose with medium aroma intensity. Aromas of butterscotch, fudge, vanilla, red fruit, blackberries, blackcurrants, anise seeds and some chocolate.
Medium acidity, that feels somewhat flabby. Medium tannins, medium bodied, medium intensity and a decent medium+ finish.
Can only agree with karl_ek, this is plagued by way over the top malolactic fermentation.

The nose is youthful with a medium aroma intensity. Initially some aromas of black fruit and cassis that are totally overpowered by oak and MLF notes. After a while in the glass there's pretty much just cola, fudge, butterscotch, butter, vanilla and chocolate.
The wine is dry, with a medium acidity, medium(+) tannins and medium(+) body. The flavor intensity is medium with flavors of cassis, jammy black fruit, oak, sweet coffee, vanilla and fudge. The finish is medium.
This was not much fun. Too much MLF with too little fruit to balance it. No thanks.

Old-world style Bordeaux blend. In balance and drinking well now but seems like it will soften with some more time in the bottle. Good value.
