I bought a bunch of different Zorzal wines a few years ago (ok, well, in 2016) and I remember them as mostly underwhelming. Maybe it's due to the longer time I let this one sit, but I find it the most enjoyable of the lot by far. Blind, I might guess it from a cooler part of Cali (though increasingly that's more of an idea than an actual place), with its somewhat thicker raspberry texture but still snappy acidity. Secondary piney notes are coming out and they're lovely. This isn't a super complex wine but it's a satisfying one, and the price is more than fair.

PnP after 30mins in the fridge. Clear medium garnet with clear rim. Macerated cherries touch of earth herbs and cola on the nose. Light(+0 weight with crunchy cherry skin tannins. Bright ripe cherry flavours touch of herbs and earth with a minty cola note. Better without too much of a chill. Nice balance of rich fruit complexity and freshness.

Great PN at this price point. A surprise to all who tasted it. Medium bodied, pleasant fruit. I'm not sure it is cellar-worthy but a good every-day wine.

Was hoping for a great find. It's certainly good quality for $13, but on the fence about whether it's worth loading up on it as a weeknight option. Light bodied and decent flavors, but a bit sour and dropped off notably on day 2.

Recognizably Pinot Noir. Very light texture, acidic. Starts very good, but that's all - doesn't begin to finish. A notch above varietally indistinct supermarket Pinot, but not the QPR find of the century by any means.

Wines At Our Table; Week of September 20, 2015; 9/7/2015-9/20/2015: Light ruby color with expressive red fruit, dried rose, and spice aromas. On the palate, it's light-bodied, refreshing and pure with a hint of polished tannins. It shows cherry, raspberry and kiss of blood orange flavors with subtle shades of spice, and minerality with a savory undertone. The wine was 20-30% whole-cluster fermented, and raised in concrete

With some air, this may be closer to generic Bourgogne rouge than most others. Earth, minerals, balance and a sense of intrigue. Somewhat light short finish is only negative. I'd love to find some of their higher end pinots.

Undistinguished pinot noir and I suspect it needs time. Gradually opened after the third day but did not have much remaining flavor. Light raspberry notes.

This is not a wine that can easily be categorized. It is an unoaked Pinot Noir from the Gualtallary region of the Uco Valley in Argentina. The color is very light clear ruby. The nose shows cherry, strawberry, and rosemary. The palate is medium weight but with delicious red fruit, spice, and mineral. Excellent length. Silky texture. Pleasant acidity. Superb value. Compared to the 2012, this vintage is less tart and angular, with more fruit intensity. Unlike any other Pinot Noir.

Opened this at an outdoor party and wasn't able to discern a nose but the palate was green and not pleasant. I put the bottle in the fridge to taste the next day. After 24 hours tasted again and nose was complicated, gamey earthy red fruit with a wisp of flowers. On the palate the green was gone and tasted of sour raspberry with a long dry finish. Plenty of acidity and I didn't detect any wood. I prefer more fruit but appreciate that this is a well made wine and for $15 a great value.

Nice earthy, cherry, and herbal aromas on the nose. Slightly tannic and jammy in the mouth but not too the level of other new world examples.

Opened on a weeknight. Seemed simple, minimal varietal characteristic. Beaujolais-like. Not memorable.

For the price, a nice weekday wine. Good fruit, decent acidity. Not complex but not expensive either.
