Still holding up well. A bit better than the last bottle I opened. Refined and lighter style cab further softened by the extended aging. Definitely drink any remaining bottles now.

Picked up in 1998, it moved from CA to OH with us in 2008 but after 1hr decanter exposure it smoothed right out on this 26 December 2014. Paired with BBQ steak dinner made for a spectacular evening meal.

Had two of these over a week. First one was flat, still good but no real flavor. Table wine Second one week later real fruity and tasty not as bold as they were. I say drinking now if you got them. Any 97's out there?? Great Whitehall years. Still one of my favorites with Spotswood Caymus Louis

The wine was good, but it didn't quite meet my expectations for a late 90's Whitehall Lane (although 1998 wasn't a great year). Still holding up but probably past prime. Nice deep color a body, but fruit lacking (probably due to age). Oh well, waited too long to open.

Slightly unbalanced with a heavy alcohol presence which overpowers pretty fruit. Medium bodied which is not what you would expect from a cab, but maybe a 98.

Not at all memorable, but for a 98' Cali Cab and not a reserve, this didn't disappoint. I was surprised at how much I liked it. A bit thin and not overly balanced, it was raspberry and vanilla with a sweet finish. Not very tannic. Glad I let it sit this long.

This does seem to be improving with age, rich and very smooth fruity with little tannins left. Some little aroma of oxidizing when opened and color just starting to get bricky but a great example of why you hold a reliable wine 7 years before drinking.

The wine has a dark, ruby red color with good intensity. Prominent aroma of spice and oak, which isn't overly pleasing. Hints of black fruit and mint follow. Medium bodied with flavors of black cherry, vanilla and spice. Noticible acidity balancing the tannins.

Good spicey oak and cassis aromas. Plummy red fruit followed by a hollow mid-palate and a green pepper streak on the finish. Nothing near the plush ’99.

Sometimes you just need to hold them until that perfect moment arrives. Really great bottle.

Surprisingly well balanced, with very nice dark cherry, tar, coffee flavors. Soft, subtle texture.

Outstanding. Wine is an easy 90 Points right now with a great, smooth texture and plenty of fruit and body.

Rich cab nose and flavor. Decent tannin/structure. Faded.
