  • You can see why 2003 was not a great vintage - this was very big. Enjoyable enough but just not nearly as smooth and harmonious as great brunellos. No where near as good as the Cupano 2003 brunello.

  • Despite the fact that others seemed to note this may have been over the hill or approaching it, my bottle was not. Garnet in color, but not bricking yet. It still had decent fruitiness and velvety tannins. Med- full bodied and weighty on the palate. I liked this very much--too bad it's all gone.

  • More open with some secondary notes starting to show. Lacking a little on the finish, tannins are still a little dry but will be good with food

  • excellent wine!
Balanced, lovely fruitiness, round and velvety tannins. Full bodied and weighty on the palate yet there is delicacy in this...Delicately textured and very well defined.
    Love that bottle!

  • Novovino's spring portfolio: nose: very pungent nose with a real good dark fruit base including tones of black cherries, herbs, dark plum tones and bits of spice. While there is an 03 edge to it, it doesn't scream the stewed profile or overtly hot profile. Good balance with an edge to it

taste: medium feel with hard edged tannins and rich tones of black cherries, herbs, dark plum tones bits of spice and some dark fruits balance well together. The tannins are fairly hard and are such that they will probably out strip the fruit when then do fade

overall: a really good brunello with an excellent profile. The vintage shows off with the tannins and the darker profile on the palate, but this is a quality brunello that would be best with food and is drinking fine right now

  • Even as you decant it, you will immediately notice the beautiful fragrance – floral, fruity & ripe. Traditional in style, this wine is medium-full bodied. Smooth tannins allow for a lenthy finish. The balanced and delicate acidity and tannins carry for the flavors of deep, dark fruits like plums, black cherries and blackberries, accompanied by a hint of licorice & wood (cedar? oak?). Soooooo elegant. Sooooo wonderful! Hold it if you can, but no one will judge you if you open it tonight.
