Second time trying the 2012 Mountains Proprietary Reserve, need to double check blend breakdown but this one is Cabernet Franc and Malbec heavy.
Dark ruby red with high intensity. Nose is coated with plums, blackberries, and cassis. Super dark. Moderate plus tannins (7.5/10) and moderate plus bodied. Silky and plush. Lots of dark fruits and black cherries. Long finish ties out with some baking spices, especially cinnamon. Beautifully complex, not as full as the Cabernet Reserve. Stunning and Grant never disappoints! Drink till 2028.

Purple and imposing. Dark fruit, mocha and vanilla on the nose. Consistant palate with a bold mouth feel and surprisingly soft and round tannins. Rolling dark fruit finish. Drinking very well. 5+13+18+9=95

Out by the Fire (My House): Decanted for 2 hours prior to tasting. Color was an opaque ruby red. Nose started with dark fruits, cassis and then moved onto black cherry. Fruit forward, plush, and thick. Both tannins and body are moderate, well integrated and very smooth. Finish is powerful and full, carries on. 94+

First Trip to Napa Valley and San Francisco: Bordeaux Blends Addition; 10/1/2015-10/10/2015 (Napa Valley and San Francisco): Third stop of the day with Eye on Wine and our tour guide Gordy. Gordy (the owner of Witchery Wines and owner of Eye on Wine) took us to Aonair since Grant (winemaker at Aonair and Witchery, also owner of Aonair) does not sell his wines unless he has met you in person. Third wine in the lineup is the Mountain Reserve. The color is a deep and dark ruby red. Fruit forward nose that attacks you with dark fruits and a ton of cassis. Wine is well structured and integrated with strong round tannins and a full body. Very long finish that is coated in cassis as it lingers. We are very impressed with the Aonair lineup and can't wait to receive our allocation!

This was an amazing balanced wine. We drank it young as this was a new winery for us and it was clear that despite not needing age to break down the tannins (which were already soft, but constructive), the nuances of the wine need some bottle time to release. It already shows some wonderful red fruit characteristics and great drinkability. I'm hoping to get my hands on some more!

Excellent need 1.5 hour of air and it takes you for a ride. Tastes like hillside napa. Fruit, velvety body pleasure to drink.

Decanted 1 hour; powerful, concentrated fruit, backbone of tannins, but smoothly balanced

Soft nose of a Pinot, distinguishable blueberries, mild tannins, and hint of tartness on the finish. A good wine, but I prefer their white blend.

Dark cherry but a tight nose. This had 2 hours decanting
Alcohol in the finish but lighter than the Chalk Hill. Integrated and beginning to be plush. I think it could do with an even longer decant.
Tannins are 7.5

Good fruit up front, with medium tannins. Wine finished pretty well. Could probably use a few more years in the bottle.

Incredibly smooth, solid nose of dark fruit. The label says it best, elegantly bold and hedonistic.
