Dark inky purple, full bodied, full round blackberry fruits with notes of cassis, bacon fat, black tea and tapenade. The fruit is more subdued than other vintages of this label. https://unwindwine.blogspot.com/2023/06/pour-boys-impromptu-wine-dinner-on-deck.html

Short decant. In a pretty good place. Nutmeg, ripe and cooked blackberry, black tea, cola, saturated oakwood, and a resinous overtone were the aromas. Nice fruit intensity on the entry with a distinct French vanilla component from the oak. Some red floral accents on the mid. Balanced, crunchy acid and med- tannins kick in as the flavors fall off on the med- finish. Drink now and for and for another year or two. Very good 88.

Tasty bottle, fruit forward as expected/recalled from first bottle. Clearly more oak than the St Joseph we opened alongside it for new/old comparison. Significant density of flavour and in the spectrum of ripe/overripe/slightly cooked blackberry black plum black cherry. The palate had a bit of a dip and didn't end as pleasantly as the StJoseph, got some dusty cocoa flavours at the ultimate finale which was interesting but I wouldn't describe as lovely. Enjoyed this less than the first bottle based on notes. Not sure at this point whether this actually needs more time in bottle, but if I can, I should let the last one sit for 3 yrs min before tasting.
Opened bottle about 90min early but decanter was in use so poured via venturi, seemed sufficient, significant sediment in there.
Paired : Thanksgiving dinner with roast pork. Great pairing.

A little astringent, definitely not an over ripe fruit bomb, restrained fruit. Nice finish. Got better with air.

If big win. Nice long finish. Dark fruits but almost more like a CDP.
