Dark red color and a bit cloudy. Some earthiness and funk on the nose. On the palate, primarily red fruits, quite tart, fairly full, but a bit harsh and stern. This bottle seemed to have the flaws common to the 2004 vintage.

Opened this about one hour before dinner and decanted. The first taste while decanting was tight, tannic and a bit green. Poured back in the bottle and took to the restaurant, reopened and poured off two glasses and let sit another 20 minutes or so. I did not take formal notes. The nose was complex and was truthfully the most enjoyable part of the experience. Most of the green notes had blown off, tertiary aromas of a forest in the fall, lots of spice and even a little meatyness. The flavors showed some aspects of the nose and good acidity. The fruit was subdued. This wine showed better once we had it with food. The vegetables in the dish eliminated any sense of the wine being green and brought out the best in the wine.

This wine started out slightly 2004 funky, but after 30 mins the funk left and a great Clos De Roche arrived. Very good althought not great and not grand cru quality.

Beautiful wine. Big boy. Was the favorite at the tasting of the MSD GC's.

beautiful CDLR, exceeded expectations of the vintage. Softer than expected, beautiful fruit still very alive. Probably in it's prime.

This wine has nothing in common with other 04's. It holds slight veggie nose in the first 30 mins and then begins to sing. Very big nd balanced..

Very fragrant, not tannic but a bit green. Give it 3 years, should round out nicely.
